I'll go ahead and give 5 stars because this is what I was looking for... A battery-operated, water-proof LED strip. I plan to put on a wreath on the front door, which is why it needs to be water-proof and battery-operated. The light themselves are very bright, so they seem to be good quality. Since it uses a USB cable to power the LED light strip, then it seems I can use any battery pack, not just the one they provided.

The downside is the Android app. It's Mohuan LED. I first tried to use an old tablet running Android 6.0 and it couldn't detect the LED strip. I worked up to a tablet running Android 7.0 and it worked. May be more relevant to the bluetooth support on the tablet, but off hand, I don't know what bluetooth they have. Once connected, the connection seems to drop every now and then. I'm not sure who is the blame, the app, the tablet, or the LED strip. Since the connection drops, I'm skeptical I'll be able to get the scheduling in the app to work. And then finally, the app is supposed to be able to support synchronize to ambient music through your device's microphone, but it really doesn't do a good job synchronizing. It just blinks when it hears a change in sound. That's a bit disappointing. But overall since I couldn't find any other LED strip which was battery-operated and water-proof, then I'm glad I found this one.

 UPDATE: I added the star back because seller sent me an email that he is sending a replacement light strip. Turns out the reason for malfunction was due to a broken wire. I would like to add that the seller is an EXCELLENT seller and response fairly quickly. I do recommend this seller!! Also they have made new modifications to the way the strips connect to each other. They are now more secure and before they were loose and wonky, the new modifications addressed that. End of update. So I have to deduct 1 star and here is why, it comes with One white copper female to male connector/adapter and three black ones. The “ Instructions it comes with“ and I put the word instructions in parentheses because it is just a booklet with pictures. It does not tell you that it comes with one white copper adapter and three black ones and so if you connect the black adapter onto the white splitter, the remote control will not work. you do have to make sure you line the arrows together so that you do not have a short circuit. I believe I was sold a returned item because mine had been opened and looked used but I’m OK with that, as long as the lights continue to work. They do have different settings and like I said, the instructions (pictures) are pretty easy to follow if you make sure you place all your pieces out in front of you because somehow I had missed the white copper adapter that goes into the end of the splitter. Overall I like the lights, I still have not gotten it to work with Alexa but I just ordered two more in the hopes that I can get at least one to work properly for our Sunday event. Was disappointed that although they did come in, in time for Halloween, the one adapter keeps falling out so it is a very hit and miss with the lights so I actually had to just put some tape on it to try and keep it from falling out in order to make the lights work. I bought the first LED kit to back light an aluminum sign in my office. Out of the box, they worked great. They don't come with instructions, but are easy to figure out. I got them applied to the back of the sign (which I cleaned with soap and water and rubbing alcohol) and the remote wouldn't give me a good teal color (which is what I was looking for), so I downloaded the app. After about 45 minutes of trying to get the app to work, it finally found my lights and I was able to adjust them to a vivid teal color, so I was very happy and bought two more kits for my employees for their toolboxes (they like bling). The second day, the lights were falling off the back of the sign, so I took it down and reapplied the lights. When I went to turn it back on from the app it wouldn't work, so I used the remote. All of the colors were muddy and reddish, and I couldn't get any blues, so I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it hoping to fix the issue. It didn't. When I tried to get more blue from the app everything went red. When I tried moving everything to red, it went green, and I couldn't get anything similar to teal or white. I replaced the batteries thinking that they might be low, but that didn't work either. The remote won't do anything now, not even on and off. And even though I didn't try to turn them on today, a few minutes ago they were on but a very dim red so I just took them down and removed the batteries.

One of my employees installed her set on her toolbox and they worked fine for about 8 hours until the batteries died (the batteries were brand new), so she plugged them into a hardwired USB port and they're working so far. I guess if hers keep working I could give them another star.

The set for my other employee didn't work at all, but the company replaced them the next day so that's good customer service. She hasn't installed her set on her toolbox yet, so I can't really say anything about them yet.

Overall, I'm very disappointed. They were so great for one day, and then yuck!

AFTER MORE WORKING WITH THEM, THEY WORK JUST FINE IF HARDWIRED. IF YOU USE THEM WITH BATTERIES, ONLY EXPECT ABOUT 8 HOURS OF LIFE UNTIL YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES.
