There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
At the recommendation of another user, I purchased a longer double shielded USB cable; 6 feet, and moved the player farther away from my PC. The transfer was much better than the previous time, less interference. There was some hissing, but this was to be expected. Bottom line: I have to learn how to use the Audacity software. According to the online manual noise reduction is available. Even though I stopped and saved each song individually, each track contained each of the previous songs. Is that the player's fault? No. I have to get more familiar with the Audacity software. I am very happy with the Reshow player.
Not bad... but I have to play with it. I received this product weeks ago, but today was the first chance I had to try it. Before I begin, my advice to the potential buyer is to research the reviews, and view the product videos available on Amazon and YouTube. That helped in my decision to give this a try. Now... the mini disc that's included did not work on my PC. So I downloaded the Audacity app from the internet. This wasn't a turn off; other users stated they had to, so I was prepared. The instructions were relatively easy to follow, but I got the feeling they're slightly dated. I purchased this product because I have original music I recorded back in the 90s that I wanted to transfer to digital (CD). I did a test run. This is why I said I'm still learning. I've got to learn how to separate songs into individual tracks. The Audacity app has an online manual, but it's not written in "plug and play" English. So, I've to spend some time in the books... so to speak. Overall, I can't complain about the sound quality considering I'm transferring music from a cassette recorded in the mid 90s. Since the machine operates in real time, I just did a sample... about eight minutes. After saving the file and FINDING it (user error), I played it back through the computer speakers. I must say I was pleasingly surprised with the quality. I gave it 3 stars because while the overall playback was good, I occasionally got a second or two of distortion, like when it's more bass than your speakers can handle. This is why it's going to be trial and error until I learn all the controls. Also, like I said it records in real time. So, I have to find out how to separate the songs into separate tracks. Other than figuring out the best way to operate this little thing, I think it's going to end up being a good purchase. If anyone who reads this review, purchased this product and can address my challenges, I'd greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks!
Wow and Flutter: (Forward) 0.25~0.33% WRMS, (Reverse) 0.35% ~ 0.5%, with a ~42Hz oscillation. Forward side is okay as expected, but I can't bear with the reverse side. Horrible.
Frequency response: approximately flat in 100Hz - 12500Hz, treble have signal up to ~18000Hz, which is good, but there is NO low bass. There is barely any signal left. Therefore do NOT expect "Mega Bass" in this unit. Sound is clean, mediocre stereo separation, but at least it is stereo... Stereo is GOOD.
Headphone Output: High noise floor, maybe around 40db of SNR. There is motor noise, but it is okay (not awful on my unit). There are only 4 electrolytic capacitors, but they are rated at 105C, okay. Output is not powerful, but enough to drive most of headphones.
Edit (03/20/2024): I asked for a replacement and sent me a new one. This one is MUCH BETTER, with acceptable WOW & FLUTTER at 0.25%RMS, which is the average of the cheap Walkman back in the days (Low end of Sony, Aiwa, etc.) The circuit must have some design flaw, as the bass is still not present. Did modify it with better belts, add lubrication, and replace some capacitors with larger ones (due to the size limitation and there are no info about the board layout). The LAG668 chip it uses does have a default bass booster sample circuit available online, but I cannot add it due to size limitation. But, I changed the two capacitor near headphone jack from 100uf to 220uf (barely fitted), and it do have LITTLE improvement in bass response (from 80Hz to ~60Hz) but level is still lower than expected. But I am pleased now and will not touch any further unless something goes wrong.

Old comments: However, in my case there is extreme and frequent clicking in the sound file and other random but periodic noise occurred. These extraneous sounds are very hard to remove from the sound file. I then bought a USB audio stereo adapter to which I connected a stereo cassette player and recorded the sound file in Audacity. This sound file had none of the extraneous noise that was obtained with the Reshow cassette MP3 converter. I suspect that the extraneous noise is motor related. It has occurred with all the cassettes I have tried thus far (5 or 6) while I have been experimenting with different method of converting audio cassette tapes. See attached photo.
