Decent alternative to the metal tops
I was searching for an alternative to the metal ones as I read that they rusted after a while. It came with two plastic tops (+gaskets) and they fit my Ball widemouth jars perfectly. I haven't tried other brands yet to see if they fit but I imagine they'll be fine. I wash them well after a few days to avoid mold. They seem well made and were a good price.

Works great! I use a 1 qt. wide mouth mason jar. For alfalfa sprouts I use the green cover. I put 2 Tsp. of alfalfa sprouting seeds and in 5 days the jar is full of sprouts. I soak in water overnight the first day. The next 3 days I rinse once in the morning and once at night. I stand the jar upside down for 15min. to drain each time. Then I place the jar horizontally in a shady place in the kitchen. I rotate the jar first to get the seeds to stick as evenly as possible on the inside of the jar. The 5th day, I put the jar in a place with lots of indirect sunlight to green the sprouts. When finished, the sprouts fill up the jar completely. I then store the finished sprouts in a plastic container in the fridge. They're great in sandwiches and salads. I like the fact that the cover isn't metal so it won't rust.
