    I have two other CDROM drives that Win 11 and Win 10 will not recognize, that is not the case with this unit.The instructions that came with it were a joke but as long as you have no issues I suppose they'll do.It is, as others have stated, rather flimsy and I would suggest handling it carefully when you have it open.I don't care for the cord storage, it's good while not in use but the corner that opens up to allow access to the cord should have been engineered to allow it to be closed when the cord is out. I'll fix that and, probably, void my warranty but as I plan on keeping it attached to my laptop I don't want that corner hanging out there in space to get broken off, or worse.I have a variety of ASUS products and they have all been trouble-free and I expect this will be, as well.Edit: As you can see in last photo, I fixed that issue with the open corner.

The cable hides nicely in the side so this can sit hidden on your desk without a dangling cable. The reader feels premium, worked perfect with both my Mac and pc, and is good to go out of the box.       This ASUS drive looked great and is highly reviewed online. It didn't work for me. I wanted a less-expensive drive with USB C to replace my old Apple super drive, to use with my new M2 MacBook air. I tried playing various DVDs to see how it worked. It kept randomly quitting and turning off, with the DVD stuck inside. I had to keep unplugging it and plugging it in again to get the DVD out. I got out my 15 year OLD MacBook air that still had a DVD drive and these DVDs played perfectly in it.

      I called the Amazon provided tech support number for ASUS and got no help there. I tried talking with someone at a call center who was totally unhelpful. I did my own research online to see if I could figure out what settings needed to be changed on my mac to accomodate this drive. I couldn't find anything. It is supposed to work without any special driver.

      Some of the reviews mention how short the cord it, but that wasn't a problem for me. The unit is noisy at first, before it calms down and gets quiet.

      I decided to return it.
