Product Description
What makes this DayClox day clock so unique is that both the DAY and the MONTH are fully spelled out! Many elders suffering from memory loss due to stroke, dementia, Alzheimer’s or just advancing years, may have difficulty processing abbreviated words. Most clocks available today will abbreviate the month & the day. For example, November becomes NOV and February is FEB. The same is true for days of the week – Wednesday, is often displayed as WED and Saturday as SAT. This may be fine for the rest of the population, but for our loved ones with Dementia, early stages Alzheimer’s or just simple advancing years, these abbreviations are often too confusing to process. This day clock displays complete words only, no abbreviations. This clock bold and clear display is a great for elderly or vision impaired. The multi language feature of this digital clock can be configured for 8 different languages - English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Polish, Dutch & Welsh. This quiet reminder clock or 8” Digital Calendar Day Clock has the clearest and easiest to read display available. This clock has everything! It displays the full DAY, TIME and DATE and it’s not just for people with memory loss or as a Dementia aid. Anyone can enjoy this wonderful clock. It makes a great gift. It’s sleek & contemporary design will look great anywhere in your home or office, sitting on your desk or counter or wall mounted for everyone to enjoy. The Dementia Clock can be viewed as a dementia aid, Dementia product or even an Alzheimer's product. It assists Dementia patients or early state Alzheimer's patients. This day clock is a self-help tool for people who get confused with abbreviations. It helps with Dementia care or Alzheimer's care. Serves as a Dementia desk clock, dementia wall clock, Alzheimer's clock or as a digital clock. This calendar date clock is wall mountable and can be used as a wall clock or used as a desk clock.

Finally Google found me Dayclox that has a very informative website, with customer service contact information in plain sight. Made in England, the website states Dayclox is the original maker of such clock and has a one year warranty.
Belatedly, I discovered an Amazon Editor’s pick list and Dayclox is one of only a few brands on the list. I checked out the editor’s picks and Dayclox came out on top of my research.
My personal findings: Right out of the box (high quality as well), plugged in and day, time, date came on instantly, all accurately set—time zone too! How’d it know what time zone I live in? LOL.
The black face, with bright bluish-white (not yellow white) letters/numbers (dims in evening — dimmer can be turned off) in white frame is cleanly attractive.
The pull-out stand in back feels sturdy, but I put the clock in a scroll metal picture frame stand, which makes it as decorative as functional on my desk. Side note: I have cheap gold and silver twisted-wire picture stands, but the clock is too heavy for them. Besides, the scroll frame is more elegant as well as sturdy.
I don’t need alarms, but multiple options appear easy to set. It is bigger than expected and perfect for my macular degeneration-impaired vision. I am up to 30 pt font on large computer screen. The clock readout appears larger.
In every aspect, Dayclox has my vote for the best out there. And a friend is going to get one for a birthday gift. My advice: do your own research before buying and look for the brands’ websites.
I love how easy it was to setup.
Step 1: Take it out of the box.
Step 2: Plug it in.
That's it. You don't even have to set the time if you're on the east coast of the US. Otherwise, you'd have a third step (setting the time zone). Even that appears to be easy and intuitive.
The clock looks sharp enough that I'm considering getting one for my own home (where dementia isn't an issue). It doesn't have seconds or a blinking colon to call attention to itself. It's functional and attractive.
Bottom line: Yeah, it's expensive. But it's well worth it for such an easy-to-use, functional clock.
Other than the dimmer issue (reason for 4 out of 5 stars), the clock does function exactly as described and the display is very crisp, clear and can be viewed from all angles. Even though the clock needs AC power and cannot be operated on batteries, the clock does keep accurate time and date in case of power outages. I cannot comment on long term durability, but the one DOA received does place a question mark on quality.
