- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2025Size: 50 Pound PailVerified PurchaseWe have a very large swimming pool in our backyard and we take care of cleaning and care. Chlorine is a very important ingredient in that process. We have used many different suppliers but this is best. Value, ease and convenience. Thank you very much and we will order from you again!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2024Size: 50 Pound PailVerified PurchaseThis shock dissolves quickly and doesn’t contain stabilizer which can lead to chlorine “lock”. Container can be difficult to open but not as difficult as some other chlorine containers I’ve had in the past. The really cool thing about this chlorine is that the granules are in a plastic bag within the buckets so you have two opportunities to ensure that the product stays dry and airtight. If you’re new to pools and chlorine, this is important! I made the mistake one year of not ensuring that the container (another brand) was not tightly closed (mainly because it was hard for me to open) and left it in my shed over the winter like that. HUGE mistake. When I went into the shed in the spring, the chlorine smell was AWFUL and worse than that, everything in the shed made of metal was totally corroded. Lesson learned $$$
Anyhow, to make reopening the bucket easier, I use the flat end of my corkscrew. Works like a charm. You could probably also use a paint can opener.
Price was EXCELLENT, delivery quick and the product works. Enjoy your pool!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2024Size: 50 Pound PailVerified PurchaseAmazon should be ashamed of themselves for letting this be sold and not returnable. I have contacted the mfg and will update this accordingly if they help.
Sure, great price for so much cal hypo, and if it worked itd be a steal. I didnt have the problem that many talked about with the tub being hard to open, they sent me the square bucket and it was pretty easy to open, the plastic bag inside was still intact so that part is fine too. However, when i dumped it in the pool, i had dissolved it like i had read from a bunch of reviews, put 2lbs of shock in and instantly turned the whole pool cloudy where i couldnt see the bottom, figured, "no problem", i'll give it 24hrs like some had said it takes, its now 72 hours later and pool is still pretty cloudy and murky looking, my pump and filter are all working fine. If it was returnable, i wouldnt care but unless the company does something, Amazon wont so i'm out the $ and stuck with a crap product. Spend the extra $ and buy something reputable.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2024Size: 50 Pound PailVerified PurchaseFirst of all, you cant beat the price. Works as intended . All the conplainers here dont know what they are doing. Its hard to open lid? transfer it to different container. Hard to disolve? You not just dumping clorine in pool. Disolve it in bucket first and after pour it around edges in pool, especially if you have pool liner. At the same time make sure your pump is running and let pool robot work as well. It will help to distribute the undersolved granules.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2025Size: 50 Pound PailVerified PurchaseIt definetly works. You need to use a bit more of this one than the regular 68% calcium hypoclorite. But the problem I see with this is that it clogs the filter... You need to clear the fliter every year, and there will be a lot of calcium (?) deposit in the filter. I'm on the third bucket, in almost two years. So very good value.
I used to use an old sock on the pump outlet to dissolve chlorine, but this doesn't work with this product, as it does not dissolve that fast. SO looks like dissolving on a bucket is the way to go.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2024Size: 50 Pound PailVerified PurchaseAs others have said, the manufacturer is definitely saving on the packaging here. The bucket lid must be cut off in order to be opened. Not hard to do with a box cutter. Thing is, the lid also doesnt seal now so I have to stack something heavy on top to keep the thing sealed.
But Id say it’s worth it. This was far and away the cheapest I could get any kind of pool shock on a per ounce basis. And the stuff works just as well as anything else Ive tried. Be careful where you store accelerants/flammables as cal hypo is an oxidizer, meaning it lowers ignition temps of other chemicals, among other things.
All told with how crazy chlorine costs have been, Im very happy with the product.
