    I have experienced some trouble with this cd writer. I bought it to write some audio cds, and I am having issues where the songs on disc start to skip around track 7, 8 or 9. Everything seems to play normally until towards the end of the album. I reached out to the seller to inquire about the issues I am having, but it's been about a week without a reply. I might have to return this item, will update

    Lately none of my computers have shipped with CD/DVD drives, which has been fine for the most part since I haven't used any in years, but I've been a little nervous that someday I will need to read some old discs I've burned and not be able to access them. This drive is small and a good price. It is small enough to toss in your laptop bag if you have the need. Performance isn't great, but I think that is more inherent with optical discs. (My main gripe is that Windows 11 File Explorer hangs while it is trying to read the disc. BUT, I believe that is a problem with Windows itself, since this device just uses the built-in Windows support and not custom drivers.) I didn't realize this drive was also a DVD burner, so I tried that out as well. I couldn't find what the manufacturer claimed is the maximum write speed, but Windows gave me the option of up to 8X speed. 8X never worked for me (despite using discs rated for 16X). I was able to get 2X and 4X to work. I didn't try 6X because I didn't want to waste any of the few recordable DVDs I had left. Since I wasn't expecting recording ability, this isn't a huge deal to me (I can live with 4X), but if you are looking for a serious DVD burner, you might want to research other options. My only other complaint is that the cord is VERY short. This is probably fine for using with a laptop, but for my big desktop case, it was awkward finding a place to set the drive.
