- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2025Color: BlueVerified PurchaseAwesome pair of needles, easy to use after googling a YouTube tutorial and finding something to knit.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2025If you're looking for a good needle set that won't break the bank, these are perfect.
Sizing: Boye has 'em beat with a 2.75 needle. The smallest these come in is a 3.00, which is still really good for interchangeables.
Tips: Sharper than average, especially in the larger sizes. The tips are the same diameter in every size, so the smallest sizes come out a little blunt in comparison. The very ends of the points are filed flat so that people who push with their fingers shouldn't have to worry about bleeding for it.
Length: 3 7/8". Pretty normal 4" needles.
Needle feel: Rather slicker than average. Much slicker than Boye, not as slick as Knitpro Zing. Yarn glides right over the needle, unhindered by the shallowly engraved (and painted) size labels (and on that note, the labels are well-imprinted, and will not fade or scratch off). I can knit quite fast with these. They're a colder needle.
Join: Good. The needles are very flat and well-machined at the end, so there's no gap. If the tool is used, they're pretty secure. Also, they're interchangeable with small-bore Boye, and therefore with Chiaogoo if you use the female-female adaptor.
Cord: Quite flexible. Far more so than Boye, somewhat less so than the Red Lace Chiaogoo cords. Does have a slight memory. Hideous color, IMO. I'm pretty sure the magic loop users can use these cords without issue. The join to the connector seems solid, and the plastic coating is flexible enough that I expect these to last a very long time. The shortest cord is nearly 16", which isn't very short at all.
Case: Meh. I don't like the color (that's on me), the shape (the book design is so much more compact than an envelope), the snap (zipper cases are much more secure) or the fact that the only place to put your cords and accessories is in a plastic bag (ew).
Overall, these are a very good workhorse needle set. I'm very pleased with the quality, even leaving the price (quite good) out of the equation. I recommend getting an empty Boye case to store them in, though.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2025Color: Rose GoldVerified PurchaseWord to wise, amazon just slapped a shipping label on my knitting needle pouch and shipped like that. It wasn’t even in a bag / box. It’s a wonder it arrived undamaged or with parts stolen
Needles themselves are decent quality but everything else is pretty cheap. You get what you pay for though
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2025Color: BlueVerified PurchaseA good variety of sizes to use.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2025Color: BlueVerified PurchaseThey arrived very quickly and are great quality. I love them!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2025The quality of these needles is mid. They're aluminum and reasonably smooth. I was able cast on and to complete a test swatch fairly easily. The needles have the mm needle size printed on. Most patterns do use the mm measurements but there are no letter sizes printed on.
If I had one complaint about the needles themselves, it's that they're a bit on the shorter side. They just fit in my very small palms. If you have bigger hands that could be a problem.
What I do see being an issue down the line is the screws in the cables. If you have bad eyes, this is not the set for you. You have to screw the cables in and the teeth themselves lead me to believe that these will wear down over time.
Nevertheless, it comes with a cute case and if you are traveling this would be a good option.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2025I do a lot of knitting, and I typically have at least a half dozen projects in progress at any given time, plus a couple of older projects in Time Out that I prefer not to take off the needles. Plus I have some emergency packs -- worsted weight cotton and a circular US8 needle -- in each vehicle, as I can always start a new washcloth.
Bottom line is that I am never going to be able to function with just one set of interchangeable circular needles. All of that to say - I certainly welcomed the opportunity to add another set to my collection. Prior to ordering these, I had two sets of needles that are my 'go to' needles for normal sizes (roughly US5 to US13), one set for smaller projects (US1 to US7), and shorties for sock knitting that also work for some other small projects. In addition, I have a couple of "back up" sets that I can use if my "good" needles are in use, and some random fixed circulars.
Now, however, I have three sets of needles that are my 'go to' needles for normal sizes. This set (which includes all of the normal US sizes from US3 to US15 except for US10.5, and also includes a US2.5) also helps me in the bulkier and smaller end, which is fantastic.
When these arrived, I put on the US10 (6mm) needles, and cast on a hat. The needles went on easily, and there is an incredibly smooth join. Using the needles to make the hat, they are fairly pointy, so they are really great for lace types of stitches - make 1, K2tog, SSK, knit or purl through the back loop, all that kind of thing. They feel good in the hand, and as they are metal, they are not really "grippy" which helps in knitting fast. The downside of metal needles is that fact also - stitches do slide easily, so it is easier to lose stitches on these needles than on bamboo or something. That is not an issue for me.
After finishing that hat, I tried the smallest needle and the largest needles, and those went on easily with very smooth joins as well. That is where I usually find problems with lower quality sets: either the smallest needles connection is just off enough to snag the yarn, or the largest needles are. I tried the cord connector to make a super-long cable, which was also smooth and not likely to snag.
Be aware that the cable lengths listed in the description are the actual cable lengths, so your 15.6" cable gives you a roughly 24" needle.
I started another hat, this one using two strands of worsted weight yarn held together. I wanted to see how this felt, and it has worked out well also. After I got a couple of rows knit up, I switched the needles out for the included ends, as I was wondering how secure those would be. I think I could rough up my project enough to get a strand of yarn to come off the cable, but I would really have to work at it.
The needles are kept on a stiff insert that does hold the needles pretty tightly. They are still easy to get out. I love, love, love how easy it is to read the sizes (which are all in mm). No squinting and turning to try to make it out. The cables have a little zipper bag, and the accessories have a little plastic pouch, and there is plenty of room in the faux leather bag for them to fit.
So bottom line is: these needles are absolutely in my regular go-to needle stash. It is going to complement them quite nicely, as the other sets I have include: US5 to US17; US2.5 to US11; and US1 to US7.
If this set included a US10.5 (6.5mm), I think it would be something I'd consider to be my 'perfect' set.
