I was looking for a replacement recoil pad for a Remington 7615 with the standard non-pistol-grip stock.
my understanding is that limbsaver made the original recoil pads for the Remington factory for the 7615, and there appears to have been some type of defect in the pads 'materials' at that time in that they turned 'gooooey' - as did mine.
The 7615 has not been made for several years so they are not listed in any fitment specs in any recoil pad catalogs.
since the original recoil pads had been made by limbsaver (or so i read) i looked at their online fitment pdf, compared dimensions of pads, printed a page or two of ones i thought might be a match, matched up the end of the 7615 for size and screw hole alignment with multiple pad images (with the old pad removed), and then found this pad :
# 10102
it looked to be a perfect fit for the 7615 with the standard non-pistol-grip stock
so,
ordered it;
installed it;
and YES, the #10102 is a perfect fit.
not just close, but perfect.
writing this review to help anyone with a 7615 with the standard non-pistol-grip stock.
SIDE NOTE: several reviewers for limbsaver pads, noted poor fit when they ordered a model based on the fitment descriptions for the limbsaver pads. To prevent such problems YOU SHOULD consider going to the limbsaver site and view their PDF that shows the pads and their sizes. print the relevant page with the pad you think would fit (and as explained for print sizing), cut it out of the page, remove the existing pad from your firearm, and then see if the cut out indeed fits for size and screw hole alignment. this is the only way to prevent any fitment issues.
Although the options are for the .444 and guide gun, I was confident that the stocks are the same for the M1895 .444 and M1985 45/70. Frankly, the guns don't cost enough to have different stocks for each caliber.
I removed the old red brick from the stock and did a quick comparison. I was satisfied that there would be minimal fitting required and began to prepare the stock.
It's nearly impossible to tell from this picture, but the butt stock is not cut correctly. The eccentricity of the lower curve, or radius from the tangent is not symmetrical from the center. I'm not all to concerned, but it is noticeable to me.
On the pre-fit Limbsaver pad, I noticed that the facing plate, or plastic housing of the Limbsaver pad has an approximate 1/32" cup or concavity in the middle where the screw holes are. I am concerned that this is an excellent place to trap moisture, and I'll have to deal with that.
My first chore was to use the template and align some holes. The top hole was perfect, and the bottom needed to be drilled. I tapped a quick hole making sure that my drill bit was smaller than the screw diameter, then started a screw hole so as not to strip the screw head when installing the pad. American walnut is a very hard wood, and screw siezure is common.
After I was satisfied that the screw holes were aligned with the template, I preparred the wood of the stock. My first chore was to sand out the surface of the butt with some medium (150 grit) sandpaper on a sanding block:
Be careful not to sand down or round out the edges of the stock because it will create a great deal more work for you to re-square them or just realize a sloppy finish. Go slow, time is cheap if you can find it.
Now to make sure that any moisture that finds it's way in between the stock and the pad facing plate does not penetrate the wood, I used some trust Hoppes clear stock finish laquer. It is a quick and efficient fix for a part of a firearm that needs sealing, yet is not visible to the eye. I applied two coats with some swabs. The first coat dried in 4 hours, and the second coat cured hard in 8 hours. Note that it is okay to get some of the laquer in the screw holes, as it will increase the friction of the screws and help to maintain tightness.
The pad installation was easy. The screw holes in the stock were started, and the pad offers a tolerance in it's screw holes so the meeting of the two does not need to be perfect. I suggest snugging the top, then guiding the pad flush with the stock as you tighten the bottom, then return to the top. Use one hand as a guide for the pad, and the screw torques into place.
The results are satisfying
I have gained two positive advantages from this modification. The first is that the felt recoil has decreased. The gun now kicks like a .308 Win instead of a .375 H&H, and I can shoulder it much more quickly.
The recoil pad is approx 3/8" thicker than the original, which increased the length of pull. Now the gun shoulders like a shot gun, which I am used to in jump shooting ducks. I can get on target much more quickly, especially with the point shooting QTA sight picture from the XS Ghost Ring.
After 6 years the LimbSaver on my Benelli M2 is holding up strong. As I wrote below by itself, it did not cut down enough recoil. I added the Benelli cheek riser comb and it seemed to help immensely. I still wear a Past recoil pad. I'm now using a LimbSaver on my Browning A-Bolt 3 in 300WM, and by itself it doesn't do much to cut down on recoil. 40rd of 300WM and my shoulder is pulverized. I just had the muzzle threaded and installed a Precision Armaments Hypertap so we'll see how well it works to cut down recoil.
It comes with the adapter and screws for installation on the Benelli M2 Comfortech stock. The original Comfortech shoulder pad is a "gel" pad. At first, I didn't think much of the Comfortech because it still bruised my shoulder after 200+ rounds in a session, but I got to use an old school Beretta with a wood stock, and after 25 rounds my shoulder was hurting much worse. I installed the Limbsaver with relative ease. The screws were kind of a pain at first because they have to be inserted through the pad. Make sure you use the right sized philips screw driver or you risk rounding them out.
While it looks to be durable (mainly a rubber/polymer material) and is grippy, there's no real noticeable difference in recoil reduction. I am very recoil sensitive, so I tend to notice if there are any significant changes. I can say that the Limbsaver is softer than the factory pad, which allows the shotgun to move back a bit more, and my cheek was getting beat up by the stock. I went back to wearing my Past recoil shield, which does the job much better. I always have to wear the Past shield when shooting the Benelli so I can stay "fresh" for the remainder of the range session. It isn't fun when my head hurts, shoulder hurts, and have large bruises on my shoulder.
Overall: 4/5 stars, cost-effective replacement for the original recoil pad, much softer and has more traction, but ultimately doesn't provide significant recoil reduction for me. I still need to wear my Past shield.

Only con about the product, It is slightly wider in one area and shorter at the bottom for my Savage 110 wood stock. According to Limbsaver website, it should be a perfect fit. The difference is barely noticeable from far, but it still serves it's purpose. I tried many different templates, and none were "exact fit" even if limbsaver says it will fit. It s to be expected since it is not a grind to fit.
