When paired together, they provide very low profile flip up sights that are quickly engaged and locked in place. A simple press pin releases the lock and the sights fold down.
Very durable aircraft aluminum construction , easy to install, accurate and plenty of windage and elevation adjustment. Holds zero very well and are very accurate. Running about a 1 1/2" groups with shelf ammo at 100yards with my aging eyes. Not bad at all!
The MNT-955 Rear sight has a dual aperture rotating ring that can be easily adjusted for both close in and away yardages. Windage is adjusted by hand and holds its mark.
The MNT-755 Front sight is adjustable for elevation but a tool, not included, is required to adjust the front sight post. You can customize a tool or buy one for under $10. Both sights come with a Allen wrench for mounting.
I painted the front post white to help my aging eyesight. May have to find some glow orange paint soon as I'm not getting any younger. At least not yet!
Only issue with these sights is the plastic ball bearing swivel which can be swapped out with a metal one for durability. The plastic ball bearing ensures a solid lock-up without any sight tower wobble.
I paired these sights with a Vortex Strikefire II Red/Green dot optic and realized a 1/3 lower co-witness view with the UTG sights. (UTG sights are visible in the bottom 1/3 section of the field of view when looking thru the optic.)
Excellent combo and you might want to try the 36/300 yard zero with the 25yard adjusted zero targets for the 5.5" center mass strike zone out to 300 yards. Very impressive and might just become your favorite zero yardage?
Most shooting ranges accommodate the 25, 50, 75, and 100 yard pins so the 25 yard adjusted zero targets gives you the 25 yard point of aim zero and a 36 yard point of impact zero so you can easily adjust for a 36yard zero when shooting at the 25 yard pin. Not many ranges offer a 36 yard pin so I hope that makes sense for you? Check out Vigilance Elite and ARMA Dynamics for printable targets with caliber details for your shooting range. Watch Shawn Ryan's 36yard zero video and you'll get the picture real quick. Thank you for your service Mr. Ryan!
Very impressed with the quality, durability, ease of use/installation, and value that these UTG Super Slim Flip up sights deliver. Might just be the BEST Value/Quality Backup Sights on the Market today?
Drink Up me Hearties! YoHo!
These are not spring loaded, but they do stay down, and when you flip them up manually, they click into their upright position with ease. They snap up, and the locking detent pops out and locks them upright. The aperture setup on these sights is why I migrated back to these from any other back up iron sight; look closely at the pictures on Amazon and you'll see that's it's a neat design.
Sight picture is great, but using these apertures is a bit different than your traditional M16A2 sight picture. The apertures are almost invisible, kind of ghostly in your sight picture. Just enough of it can be seen to get your sights lined up, but this also allows for far more peripheral sight picture awareness.
Attached is my final 3 shot group, from the range today, after three 3-shot groups to re-zero my rifle. I did NOT need to adjust any windage in, and that was the case with the first set of these I've had in the past, which is odd, in a cool way. My rifle had been re-assembled after my doing some work on it, so I was re-zeroing the entire system, not just the sight. Dialed in to this level after 12 rounds and the rifle as a whole running 100% is awesome; my front sight post on my rifle needed the adjusting. Still a touch high, but excellent for my purposes. Rifle was still a bit dirty in these photos.
Results speak for themselves. In terms of durability, these seem quite tough. I'm not worried about the flip up detent ball being polymer, as you're not going to be actuating the sights 8,000 times a year. They're back up sights, not flip them up and down every other shot, sights.
I purchased this unit back in the end of 2016, but returned it after a couple weeks due to the little detent switch not quite working. It seems as though that has been fixed entirely. There seems to be an added steel plate where the locking switch rides inside the sight mount, which the old unit didn't have IIRC.
Buy them. I'm using these over more expensive sights. BTW, these are the rear sights that come on the Saint rifle, from you know who. I can't think of a reason to not rate it all at 5 stars; easy as pie to install, $21 is amazing for a decent rear sight like this, and the accuracy is excellent.
