More info: The claws are kinda slippery and you have to line it up just right to get it to grab stuff solidly…not a bad thing, in fact that’s just like the real thing. It’s small and I suggest you get a grab box of small toys from here on Amazon to put into the machine as prizes. We used leftovers from a party favor toy assortment we had and they work great as far as being able to be picked up by the claws.
Don’t over fill the bin with toys as it gets quite hard to pick anything up, only a few toys at a time in the bin works best.
We found that lollipops aren’t great as they often get dropped by the claw.
One time our cat sat on the top and the girls used it while he was on top…this caused a wire to pull out of the drive motors on the claw mechanism and I had to do some surgery on the wiring, so don’t run it with anything heavy on top of the machine.
The song plays loudly the entire time anyone is playing with the machine and I put tape over the speaker on the bottom of the machine to mute it some, but it’s still pretty loud. the tempo of the tune speeds up as time is running out, so that’s kinda fun and makes it more realistic.
Overall, I’d say that after a month of solid use, this is a quality toy for the money. Be ready to make some adjustments and keep your expectations realistic. It’s addicting and grownups will have a blast with this as well!
1. The sound is SO loud. I took a few reviewers suggestions and packed it with cotton balls which helped.
2. It can barely pick up the fun sized candy (like I had a team of 10 adults trying their hardest). Good luck with a dumdum sucker or very small toys. It just doesn't have the grip strength. I took a reviewer's suggestion to coat the claw tips to make them more gripy, but it didn't help much.
3. After all of this trial and error and minor modifications, the claw siezed up the day before the event I bought it for...
LONG READ:Much like all comments the machine is fun to use, but very loud. The sound is alright at a certain point. I muffled the sound a little with duct tape. I also found, if you want to end the sound quickly, all you have to do is tap the surface of where the prize goes out. Well, I actually didn’t find that out myself. One of my students pointed it out when they were playing.
Another similarity with all comments is broken controls. the only control that was broken was going front and back. I’m gonna have a family member check that out! Though it is fine without that certain control since the machine isn’t full. I think it just depends on where you put the prizes.
Also, my box had no coins. I have to use actual ones or a pencil to push the button for it to start. My item was probably a return and I got it. I didn’t return it back because of the hassle of boxing and sending. Might as well just fix it myself then waste for sending. Plus, my friends and students are having fun with the item despite it being broken! It’s the joy that counts!
