Victor Easy Set Rat Trap

The Original Wooden Snap Trap with A New Twist

The Victor Easy Set Rat Trap uses the original wooden snap trap design with an improved larger trip pedal to help you to eliminate rodents around your household or business. In addition, it features a pre-baited pedal to allow for quick and simple setup. Two settings, Firm and Sensitive, also allow you to control the sensitivity of the trap. Trusted to control rats for more than 115 years, this trap delivers clean, effective rodent control.

Quickly and Effectively Eliminates Rats

The Victor Easy Set Rat Trap makes rodent control easy with its simple, straightforward design and instant results. Once a rodent triggers the pedal, the trap immediately springs closed to eliminate the pest on contact. After a catch, simply throw away the trap for quick and clean removal or discard the rat and reuse.

Expanded Trigger Plate

The Easy Set Rat Trap enhances the classic snap trap design by adding a large plastic trigger plate to ensure higher catch rates. The expanded size means it can be easily activated both by rodent interest in food and through accidental contact as rats scamper across the floor.

Set the baited trap in areas where you have noticed high levels of rodent activity. Rodents tend to travel along walls, so placement in this location often works best. For maximum effectiveness, use multiple traps, placed at 2 to 3 foot intervals to increase results.

How to Set the Victor Easy Set Rat Trap

Release the Arm Bar

To get started, remove the packaging staple and move the arm bar so it hangs over the back of the trap.

Bait the Trap

Although the trap is pre-baited with a scent, apply bait on the pedal for best results. Use a high-protein bait, like peanut butter.

Set the Trap

Pull back the kill bar and hold it securely with your thumb. Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal.

Place the Trap

Locate an area with high rodent activity or place the trap along the wall. The baited end of the trap should be against the baseboard.

Works, But Be Careful!
I bought the sticky type of trap and this one. The sticky ones did nothing, but at least this one caught a large mouse. Be careful setting this trap, as the spring is very strong and it can injure your fingers. I got a glancing blow to my thumb as I yanked my hand away and it hurt like hell.

After battling a sneaky rodent in my house, I discovered that sometimes the classics are best. This rat trap did the trick when other fancy contraptions failed. Just goes to show, you can't beat a tried-and-true method. Oh, and a word from the wise: make sure you have the correct size trap. A large trap for a rat and a small trap for mice. It makes all the difference in catching these critters.

I just know the metal bait holder holds up longer

Peanut butter in the little cup, or hard cheese / bacon / salami wedged under the point. It needs to be hard enough to remove to trigger the trap. Wrap with a twist tie if they're stealing the bait without triggering.

I dripped some oil/juice from sardines on the bait last time, and heard it snap within 10 minutes.

If you're a reuser, watch the staples and give them a tap with a hammer once they start pulling out.

I finally started picking the tomatoes once they turned a bit reddish, but the darned rats still got at least half of them. Now it's war.

Once you set this killer trap properly, it kills instantly. Please don’t torture any creature, even the “lowly” rat with glue traps and other methods of slow, painful, and frightening kill methods. Just imagine a human sized glue trap and what it would feel like for you do slowly die stuck in one until you die days later, alone and in the dark. These traps break when they are tripped. The seem like they would be heavy duty, but like other reviewers, they fly apart. And the yellow 'trip' platform is clearly not strong enough plastic.. Mine snapped making the trap unusable after the first time. The trap worked but I want to reuse them! Other reviewers mentioned some were good, some were crap. I wonder if batch of wood on some is poor quality. Trees grown fast for timber industry sometimes are too soft if they grow too fast. Could be the main reason staples are ripping out. Then if they replaced the plastic piece with metal it could be okay. I'm going to try to rig mine up to a different piece of wood and something for the trigger. Maybe a heavier base could withstand the force of the snap. Unfortunately, as they are now. They are disposable, single use item...like everything nowadays because we rely on cheap components. Even if constructed in the USA, the parts (i.e. the plastic trip platform) are fabricated in places like China. Plastics have gotten flimsier and flimsier over recent years. From organization bins and litter boxes. I have noticed a huge different in quality of an identical item bought 5 years ago versus today. Not much what we can all do about that.

The plastic bait tray doesn't hold the trip bar good enough and it slips easily.

I've used a lot of different types of rat traps, and keep going back to these. They're more effective than most. Two tips: 1. Tie it down with a string so a snagged but live rat can't carry it off. 2. Screw it down to a shingle or plank -- when tripped, the inertia of the bail causes the trap to flip up which can throw the rat right off the trap before being caught. Good hunting!
