NOTE WELL - none of these jacks are made to jack up the travel trailer for tire changes. They are designed to STABILIZE the trailer when parked and eliminate the bouncing you get when moving around in the trailer. They can hold some of the weight, but cannot LIFT all of the weight. Trying to use them for tire change will destroy the bearings and may lead to injury to those trying to change the tire. You need a Traileraid ramp ( Camco Trailer Aid 21 Tandem Tire Changing Ramp (Yellow) or equivalent to get the flat tire off the ground. This requires a twin axle wheel set up so you can roll the undamaged wheel onto the ramp to elevate the flat tire wheel (after loosening the lug nuts some). You might be able to use your tow vehicle jack if you have only a single axle, BUT I would NOT recommend that because that could be very high risk depending on the stability of the jack under the trailer.
On july 4, 2023, we were set up at Nomads View at the Badlands when huge thunder storm rolled in at 11:03 P.M.
We grabbed the NOAA radio and the broadcast said there were 80 M PH winds just a 1/2 mile from our location.
Though we could feel the wind slamming into our 30 foot travel trailer, and hear the horizontal rain pounding the windows, the trailer barely moved an inch as the 7500 pound stabilizers and BAL LOCK ARMS were like anchors.
We appreciate the quality of great products, especially when they are American made.
I screwed a 2x4 to the top of the jack with the supplied screws and then placed the jacks under the suspension assembly near the wheels. Turning the crank 1 turn on each jack provided enough lift to keep the car balanced. The jacks were solid and provided good stability with the base they have. The front of the car was tied and the wheels chocked for safety and to restrict motion.
I had to raise and lower the rear several times to be fully confident that it will go up straight and not sideways. This is when I noticed that the supplied handle developed a play at the socket. It did not break or anything. My observation is that compared to the solid jack assembly, the socket assembly with the pin felt sub-par and could fail at a point where the operator may get stuck with the jack half deployed or half removed. This is my reason for the 4-stars.
Update:
After the car was done, I had to lower it using the handle on the jacks. I had to go slowly adjusting the car height up or down to make sure it does not slip. This is when the pin in the handle broke. Its a screw specially tapered and made of alloy. I contacted BAL to replace the screw and purchase a few extras. They sent me a new handle under warranty. The replacement handle has the same kind of screw, which I think is the weakest link in this product, literally.
You just remove bolts to the BAL units, remove BAL top brackets, unbolt OEM jacks and bolt the BAL jacks to existing welded on brackets installed by Casita Mfg. Ours is a 2020 17 foot Trailer

These jacks are AWESOME, they have no problem taking the weight of my rig off of the suspension (I would NOT use them to lift the tires off the ground) and my 14,000 lb rig is rock steady and stable when parked now. I still use leveling blocks under the wheels to get mostly level when in very unlevel spots, but these things do the rest of the work with ease.
I HIGHLY recommend!
the metal on this thing has to be at least 1/32" thinner than my original, doesn't sound like a lot, but trust me, it is. So if you have a 35' trailer (i.e heavy), you might want to look elsewhere.
