Best abdominal machine out there!! Made a few modifications (Hence the downgrade to 4 stars).
I have used the gym version for 5 years and raved about it to others. Four months ago, I had to self quarantine due 2 weeks (COVID) and lost about 15 pounds due to running out of junk food. I thought losing weight wild cause me to have ripped abs, since I was doing oblique crunches about 5 days a week (gyms closed then I stayed home to prevent spread of virus). I was wrong. Abs looked the same. Then about two months ago, I saw I could buy this for home use. I bought it immediately. Since I was already in decent shape with the oblique crunches, I quickly ramped up to 40 pound weights 150 reps 3 days a week, for a week, then 5-7 days a week. Within 3-4 weeks, I finally got ripped abs, even with gaining 3 pounds back.I gave it 4 stars since:1. I wish it could handle 25 pound plates,2. The LCD screen so super hard to read at that angle. As you can see in my pictures, I have the screen horizontal. The room lights now hit the screen at the right angle so I can easily read the screen. I suggest either changing the angle (preferred) or change to a red LED screen,3. As you can see, I attached a tie plate from the local hardware store to be a phone/tablet holder.4. I was using the machine suboptimally for 5 years at the gym. You need to hook the forward ankle to use the abs on that side. If you use the back ankle to pull, I have no clue what muscles you are working. Maybe some internal lumbar muscle???Also keep the elbows at 90 degrees to keep your trunk further away from the machine (saw this on a YouTube video). If you bend your elbow to say 45 degrees, your trunk is closer and you use the iliospoas more, and less abs.Hope these suggestions help you get the most out of the machine.PS: the weights I used in the picture were from a old device to convert a tiler to a core aerator. Each weighs 20 pounds so is the same 40 pound max. Waste not want not.Addendum: 4 month addendum. The 40 pounds are too light for about two months. I found a way to attach 20 more pounds for a total of 60 pounds. Doing 25 reps each direction still. Not sure how to go to 80 pounds safely. 🤔

4.0 out of 5 stars Arrived with all parts and instructional CD's.

Pros: Exactly as described. Well built. I've been using it for three days and it definitely is targeting the abs. Our gym closed a while back and I've been looking for something to use in my apartment. I spend a lot of time seated working on the computer so it's a nice quick break to work pelvic/back muscles as well as the abs.

Cons: I've included one photo. Not sure if the weld is like that on purpose. That is where the curved rails attach to the armrest console so I'd guess it comes under a good bit of stress. Time will tell. The metal is all solid heavy gauge steel so it will probably hold for years. The digital counter works, but seems to miss counts sometimes. Not a big deal for me.

Summary: Considering everything, quality is very good for the price and I'd recommend it to a friend.
