When hanging on your wall, be sure to alternate the directions of the panel grid lines as this helps absorb sound most effectively. So, one panel goes left to right, and then the one next to it goes up and down.
1. You dont need to soak these. I ordered 48pcs and soaked 12 of them just to see if they would grow an inch taller or so.
Its not necessary. Just air it out for 24 hours and it should be the way they are.
I wish theyd be more thick but this is what I get paid for. Cant complain about that.
2. You must buy a good doublesided adhesive tape...or else it wont stick. I recommend using stick on puttys instead as the command strip ones juat cost too much money. So if your renting just buy a goo be gone spray or repaint the wall if you damage it. This ia what you get from the price point.
3. Its affordable for 48pcs. Im satisfied with it aince thats the only thing i can afford for a 48pc panel.

You can test these by simply talking to/at them and seeing how much sound is blocked or dampened. They have the density of a kitchen yellow foam sponge, which isn't much. But if you use all of them, it may be more effective.
As for the sticking/expanding issues, I had none. Some edges were stuck, but simply rubbing your finger on it breaks it up and it will expand. I think it's just friction heat from when it was cut that caused it to bind/melt. Overall, not bad, but not great either. I will try them out though and see if using more will be more effective.
i will post a test to see how many squares it takes to block out the sound of an iPod on the floor.
They worked well though, I used them to keep the sounds of streaming from disturbing roommates. It came with so many that I didn't even use all of them.
