Product Description
A unique close fitting hoof boot designed to keep wounds, poultices and dressings clean. This durable boot is suitable for stable and turnout use enabling your horse to enjoy some freedom instead of being kept in his stable. Featuring a grooved sole for extra grip and a Kevlar interior for durability it also has an asymmetric zip to give the boot a really close fit (and prevent it opening) stopping bedding and other debris from getting inside. Available in different sizes, the boot is designed for use with or without a shoe. It can assist in a number of ailments to the foot such as abscesses, punctured sole or bruised sole. To get the best out of your Medical Hoof Boot: 1. Overreaching - Do not use the Medical Hoof Boot (MHB) in place of an overreach boot to prevent shoe loss. The MHB is not designed for this application and will not protect against overreaching. Woof Wear always recommend using a deep overreach boot over the MHB to protect both the horse and the MHB from damage. 2. Measure, Measure, Measure - The MHB is designed to be a snug fit so it doesn’t fall off. If you do not measure accurately or buy a size too big it can result in damage to the MHB due to the boot being trodden on by the other foot. 3. Measuring Rules: i) Measure width carefully before bandaging, with or without shoe ii) Choose size per guide (don’t go to next size up) iii) No need to add extra for dressings PLEASE NOTE We expect the boot to last 2-3 weeks under normal circumstances with many customers finding they last much longer. The boot is not indestructible and so is not guaranteed against breakage, due to the horse standing on the boot.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2024Size: 6Color: BlueVerified PurchaseMy rotten gelding is a pro at removing is wrapping. He seems to get accesses quite a bit and I have tried numerous trick when wrapping his hoof but it never lasts long. I purchased this boot because he is out 24/7 and it works fantastic! It is hard to get on and off because it is snug. I also will not leave it on for an extended period of time. I left it on her 2 days and he was very sweaty and his heel bulb was pruned. I will alternate from this boot to a wrap and the boot will be ready for riding while he still needs wrapped.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2021Size: 5Color: BlueVerified PurchaseUsed this product per package instructions to include the recommended overreach boot. Fit was measured per instructions and fit as recommended. Used on an unshod trimmed 30 yo old horse that doesn’t move much. He did wear it in (dry) turn out as advertised is ok and horse walks but doesn’t run or twist etc. in less than 24 hrs the rubber base began to separate and the neoprene had runs in the material. Within 48 hrs. the rubber sole was completely detached and my horse now had a neoprene bracelet. For convenience, I wanted this to work but I got better results with duct tape and vet wrap. The boot is not worth the price.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2017I got this for my mare and will use it as necessary. She is in the process of growing out an abscess & has some chunks of hoof we expect her to lose. It went on very easily, isn't clunky, & seems well made. I ordered a size 6 after measuring her foot & using an inches to mm conversion chart. May run a hair large, so order down if between sizes.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2023Size: 9Color: BlueVerified PurchaseWe purchased these for our TB x Draft when he had a serious hoof infection and partial sole loss. The boot was advertised as safe for turn out but it was not designed to last. The good: it came in a big hoof size perfect for our boy and it was relatively easy to put on and off. The thick sole was cushioning and protective and the neoprene conformed perfectly to his hoof and pastern area. The bad: The zipper easily slipped and eventually broke. The neoprene was also very hot and would absorb water if it was wet outside. The neoprene also ripped easily. We ended up adding a bell boot to protect the zipper and neoprene. Despite all of our efforts, Bruce destroyed 5 of these boots in a 2 month span, including ripping the sole off of 2 boots. I highly reccomend them for light use and limited turn out, but they don't hold up well to routine turnout and wet conditions.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2021Size: 5Color: BlueVerified PurchaseMy rescue quarter horse mare has front hoof birth defects with worsening episodes of abcess for years as she sinks her foot in a self made puddle of her urine and manure looking for relief , specially after hoof trimming , apparently learned from the periods of ice soaking for episodes of laminitis ( She is very smart but not a doctor ) . She has been down several times almost dying. She is loose in a large pen . I've been able to trim her feet , fit a medicated pad , cover it with the bottom half a sock of mine for quick fitting since she could hardly put weight in the other front foot for seconds and fit a longer sock of mine over all . Then fit the boot , in her case , size 5 but I bought size 6 also to allow more room for the dressing . I've been changing the whole settings every one to 3 days as she recovered , for about a month now and watch for fly larva as they appeared once at the beginning and controlled by pouring a little alcohol around the top of the boot over the sock between cures . She has recovered having also penicillin daily for a month and the hoof is clean after further trimmings and growing well . Exelent product that did the job perfectly and now that the foot is better and needs no medicated pads I'm transitioning to a boot that allows for better ventilation and more active walking . I used 4 boots to allow for cleaning and drying after each cure and all of them survived biting before fitting an overreach bell boot and are all reusable .
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2024Size: 6Color: BlueVerified PurchaseI just got this in size 6 and didn't even bother trying it on my horse. The concept seems good, sizing is way off. The bottom would have probably fit my horse's hoof but the top barely fit around my wrist so no way it would fit my horse. At first I thought maybe it stretches and it does slightly, but no way enough to fit. I will be returning it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrific Quality, looked worn box and boot wasn't even clean!
Size: 7Color: BlueVerified PurchaseThis was 1 of the most awful things I have bought on amazon, I have had horses for over 30 years....the quality for ONE BOOT is deplorable and they didn't even send the right size. I would never use this company again...maybe I have just been unlucky but the state the parcel was sent in was a disgrace 😕

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Produkt
Size: 6Color: BlueVerified PurchaseAufgrund verlorener Eisen sehr ausgebrochene Hufe.

4.0 out of 5 stars Survived most of the antics
Size: 9Color: BlueVerified PurchaseAfter a week of box rest it went up to the field with moves like Glamourdale. There was no waiting around for the puny biped to remove the head collar and off it went across the field like New Approach and then turned into Crouching Tiger Snorting Dragon while biped minced around trying to get the head collar off. It then busted out some more circus pony tricks in between furious rolling sessions. The whole experience was quite deathy to say the least but I was impressed to see the boot had survived this chunts antics, though sadly the boot was off by the evening (my super poultice stayed on though and kept foot clean - win!).
It looked like the zip had just undone and so the last few days I have wrapped a few strands of electrical tape around it and some duct tape down the zip to keep it clean, and now it has turned back into a sloth the boot is staying on!
You may say it’s not ideal but I feel like it’s not easy to design a temporary foot that will withstand 650kg of beast on crack.
Definitely recommend

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
