I cooked a 13 LB Turkey, came out Perfect, moist, and crispy skin, NOT burnt up and perfect golden skin,,,,,perfect for a big Turkey!!!! but............
I dropped in a 4.7 LB bone in turkey Breast and cooked planned on cooking it at 7 minutes a pound like the "owner/inventor" stated on youtube video, and the Breast skin was burnt black, ruined, burnt up beyond repair, and I lowered the temp from 375 down to 350 degrees, and instead of cooking 32 minutes as recommended, I took it out after only like 15 minutes because it was burning up to a black, burnt mess, and this breast was room temp, totally dry, and seasoned lightly, when I dropped the bird in, green 375 degree light just came on when I dropped it,,,,,,,,,,,, so not sure why it burned up??????????
14 lb Turkey came out perfect, I did a 4 lb Turkey Breast @ 7 minutes a lb like stated @ 12:16 and it burnt up all to hell, ruined it, it was black burnt only after putting it in after 5 minutes, so I lowered the temp. down to 350° and it was burnt up all to hell, skin was black burnt, ruined but..........again.......the Turkey came out Perfect, I think the times and temp. for the whole Turkey "breast only" is wrong?????????? I am using the 2019 XL New Version model: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HR6D9ZC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
We really liked how simple the unit is to use. Simply turn the dial, and the light turns green when the oil is ready! No more checking a thermometer to make sure oil is heated properly. With the lid, you also have much more consistent heating throughout your cook time.
Last year my husband’s turkey ended up “blackened” so he was determined for the turkey to come out better this year. We actually did a test turkey two days prior to T-Day, and it came out PERFECT! Same results on the big day. It works great, consistently!
Other features we appreciate:
- Hanging fry basket
- Magnetic electric plug
- Oil fill line
All in all I am so happy with this fryer. It was easy to use and we got great results. And best of all, I don’t have to worry about my dogs or kids running around an open flame.
We run a website that reviews As Seen on TV items and this looked like it should be an As Seen on TV Deep Fryer.
This turkey fryer is awesome! We loved the Butterball XL Electric Fryer. It's quality built, easy to use, easy to clean and works exactly as it's supposed to. One thing we didn't like about the fryer is that the plug-in cord was a little shot; however, that's standard for almost all deep fryers and you're never supposed to use an extension cord (for safety reasons of course). We used it outside but I think it would have been fine inside. We created a 24-minute video review of this fryer. I highly recommend it!
