About this item
- COMMERCIAL KITCHENS, BASEMENTS & MORE - Class "A" Fire Rated, FDA and USDA compliant (most health inspectors love them!). The smooth, washable vinyl (PVC) surface is perfect for food prep areas, manufacturing facilities, basements, and more.
- WATERPROOF - Goodbye, water-damage! The DuraClean is waterproof and easily washable with warm water and a mild detergent. No more replacing tiles that get wet or dirty. Great for areas with moisture concerns or high humidity.
- NOT ACOUSTIC ♦ Smooth PVC ♦ 0.16" thick (5/32" or 4 mm) ♦ Grid mount only (do not glue or staple up) ♦ 25 Year Warranty ♦ 47.75" x 23.75" ♦ Solid white (not translucent) ♦ Recyclable #3 PVC
- RIGID & DURABLE - While lightweight (only 4lb), the 0.16" PVC tile will sit solidly in your grid for many years. They can support the weight of R13 insulation or a single LED puck light.
- EASY DIY INSTALLATION - Designed to drop into standard 15/16" grids (the width of the grid as you look up). Like most tiles, these will not work with thinner 9/16" grids. Flexible enough to install with zero clearance in surface mount grids. EASY TO CUT - just score with a utility knife and snap.

Why do DuraClean ceiling tiles work so well?
Our DuraClean tiles are made from UV Stabilized 1/8" (.125") thick vinyl plastic and easily fit into almost any ceiling grid system. This durable tile is perfect for industrial and commercial areas like: food preparation areas, clean rooms, bottling and food processing plants, schools, dorms, day care and educational facilities. Many people also like the simple, clean look for their home! Constructed from 100% PVC Vinyl, our DuraClean tiles are washable, waterproof, and Class A Fire Rated and can be washed over and over without any damage. DuraClean tiles are built to withstand a lifetime of use!
Standard Size - DuraClean panels are designed to fit all standard 15/16" - 1" T-Bar Ceiling Systems, making replacing old standard 2' x 2' ceiling tiles a breeze. You have the option of installing them in the grid alone, or putting them directly under existing acoustic tiles (check your building code). They are strong enough to support regular insulation laid right on top of the tile. The connection between cross-tees and mains in many grid systems causes a minor shadow at the corners of any smooth tile. This is expected and doesn't affect the performance of the tile.
Easy to Cut - To cut any DuraClean panel, mark and score the face of the tile with a utility knife and snap it away from the cut. A skill or table saw can also be used in cutting multiple tiles at once and a RotoZip or hole-saw for odd sizes shapes and circular holes - like sprinkler heads or can lights.
Easy to Clean - Use a mild soap and water solution or most household cleaners to clean your DuraClean ceiling tiles. Just spray the cleaner onto a clean rag and wipe. Power-washing DuraClean panels is also an option, but avoid placing the spray nozzle tip too close to the panel in order to prevent damage to the tile face. The tiles are unaffected by most corrosive chemicals, but avoid using acidic cleaners or scrubbing with abrasive cleansers.
Food Prep Areas - Because they are smooth, durable, and washable, they are perfectly suited for use in Food Areas.
Waterproof - 100% Waterproof and washable
Class A Fire Rated - Tiles were tested by Intertek (2016) in accordance with ASTM 84e scoring a Class A rating for flame spread and smoke generation.

They are matte black, they come with a plastic protective sheet on one side. I suggest leaving this on until you have all the tiles installed because they are extremely easy to mark up and are pretty annoying to clean.
There were a couple that were damaged due to shipping. I have no doubt they would have replaced them if i had asked them to, but i just used those tiles for the edges of the room that needed cut to size anyway.
They are thin but not so thin that they are unable to support their own weight. They strike a balance with flexibility and rigidity so they are easy to install but still rigid enough without any noticeable sag.
I’d say they are some kind of plastic composite type of material. It is extremely easy to crack or chip them if you apply too much force to them. It shouldn’t be much of an issue since drop ceiling tiles have more than enough wiggle room to get into place If cut to the correct size.
Note: if using in a home theater and replacing existing fiberglass drop tiles, you will probably want additional acoustic/sound absorption in your room. These are rigid and hard, sounds do echo well off of them.
Even though these were the cheapest black ceiling tiles i could find and they serve their purpose well enough, i still do not understand why these are so expensive. There is nothing special about them. If you already have tiles and just want to change to black, I’d suggest just painting your existing tiles rather than buying these.

Way to go uDecor!
I wanted to go black a while back to remove the “glare and brightness” when watching movies...
Then recently some unexpected water required that I swap a number of tiles. What better time to go black than now?!?
After looking and thinking and reading and looking and reading and thinking.... I went with these...
Pros:
So easy to work with... just score with an utility blade and snap... even circles were a snap (pun intended) - But cut them in strips = much easier to score the circle then cut individual strips and snap each out individually - (example photo of the in ceiling speaker)
They look good and just as easy to hang as traditional - easier actually because you can tweak/bend them in a pinch....
Cons:
I did find four that were scratches and scored being usable out if the box (even with the protective peel away ). Luckily I was able to use them for some of the cut down pieces.
The PRICE - for what you are getting- >$5 a tile is a bit much....
Let’s discuss what you ARE getting - you’re getting a 24”x24” piece of black “plastic” to say the least. It’s about 1/8” thick...
With that said they don’t do much for insulating sounds.... and they really will not support the weight of anything.... so if you’re like me and have cables, speaker wire etc “free floating “ - these may sag...
My recommendation - (not that it’s worth much) if you already have traditionally ceiling tiles - KEEP THEM.... and use these as an underlay...
Not to mention that you remove the added work of removing the original tiles....
If if if they were half the cost- - I’d be ALL OVER THESE and promote the heck out of them (hint hint) I still have one more room I could do....
