Almost perfect
These are the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever worn. I've been hiking for over 30 years and have worn a lot of different boot brands. The only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is the tongue is a little short. When I fasten the license across the top lace hooks and hike, they pull above the tongue. So now I use the lower set if lace hooks and ignore the top set. I was concerned that my foot might pull out without lacing them all the way up but that is not the case. A slight compromise but not too bad at all.

    The soles on my seven-year-old inexpensive Coleman hiking boots are about to fall off, so it is time for a new pair of yard work shoes. I tried on a pair of HI-TEC hiking boots at my local sporting goods store and did not like how tight they fit around my toes.

    After reading several reviews, I purchased a pair of Nortiv 8s. These are not tight around my toes and are comfortable.

    Today, I used them to help a neighbor get his riding mower unstuck. All he needed was for somebody to apply weight on the rear fender over the tire that was spinning out. These shoes provided the traction needed to push the mower until he was able to drive it out of the ditch. Later today, I took the dogs on a half mile walk and these shoes provided enough comfort throughout the walk.

    Hopefully these will last a long time and provide some good yard work comfort and traction.

    I wore these hiking boots to clear leaves on my mom's wooded property yesterday. Part of her property slopes down into a ravine. There is a lot of loose rock embedded into the dirt and I can't get my Zero Turn mower near there to mulch leaves or else time will be wasted pulling the sucker out. I always use a leaf blower to clear the leaves in that area. Shoes provided great traction all day on the rocky slopes, and I did not lose traction and or slip once.

    I just replaced the insoles with better quality. The OEMs literally wore out wearing the shoes to cut firewood once a week for the past 5 weeks. Some of the wear and tear was from walking while carrying or pulling oak round logs up a hill to toss in a pile. I also wore them to cut sections of my mom's property with a push mower. If you decide to buy these, purchase some better insoles.

    Today, I decided to purchase the steel toe version for cutting firewood.

    Let me start by saying that I work as a facility maintenance technician at a university and put some MILES on my footwear.

    I usually spend $175+ on Solomon hiking boots because I want quality boots that are comfortable, durable, and keep my feet dry throughout the life of the boot.

    When winter approached this year, I wanted to get a cheaper pair of boots to wear as I often assist the grounds dept. with snow removal and salt application and didn't want to put my Solomon's thru the ringer.

    I read some other reviews on these boots and figured @ this $$$ point,I'd give them a shot!

    I'm here to tell you that I have worn these boots ALL WINTER and they have held up extremely well. They aren't insulated, but my feet stayed warm while shoveling snow all day in -20 wind chills. I have had them submerged in a flooded service tunnel up over my toes and the waterproofing held up perfectly.

    I traded out the factory insoles with my go to insoles (as I do with every pair of boots I buy) and they are comfortable to wear all day.

    I don't often leave reviews, but I have spent a lot of $ over the years looking for a durable, lightweight, waterproof boot that holds up longer than 3-6 months (averaging 18,000 steps a day) & These boots really & truly surprised me.... So I thought I would share my experience with you.

    Simply put, the QUALITY/VALUE of these boots is going to be hard to beat.

    I wear these for work and I do ALOT of walking and climbing ladders all day. They are comfortable and seem to be a well made shoe. They are a bit heavy and for me ran just a tad large, but not too large. I just went with a little thicker sock to account for that. I wear a 10.5 regular width in Merrill's so I used that as a size guide when I ordered them. I do like the metal lace holders, they allow you to pull the laces tight, but will most likely kill the shoe laces with time and use.

    I ordered these as my car broke down in France and I left my much loved but ultra expensive gortex all weather boots in the back while awaiting recovery to UK . Currently December and I had two quick trips to the Baltic's, Lithuania and Poland so needed some boots fast. Read the reviews and it was these and the price point ( still hope to get my Gortex back) and the speed of delivery that did it for me. These boots have been excellent. Arrived next day Amazon Prime in time for my trips. I ordered the size 12 as I usually take size ,11 UK when it comes to trainers/shoes but I order one size up when it comes to boots as I wear with walking/winter socks. When these boots arrived I did a quick test and although they worked with the socks were a tad on the tight side so I did a return and got size 13 which have worked out really well , my advice therefore would be order one size up from your normal walking boots. These boots are lightweight but fit well and are comfortable , so far have proven warm and completely waterproof even in heavy snow. At one point I lost my drone which lost the signal and decided to do an impromptu landing so I had to go off piste and recover, the snow came right up to the top of the boots without entering and the boots remained warm and weather tight throughout . As regards the grip I note some have made unfavourable comment but I have found to be excellent even in snow and ice. The tread is deep and rugged and should last for quite some time although I will probably put them away until next winter now. I wear these boots with the laces done up to the first ankle hook only which I find works best for me leaving more flexibility in the ankle but guess that's a personal choice . Highly recommend these boots but order one size up.
