If you have ever lived in a mobile or manufactured home, you know they have almost nothing in common with standard homes.
HVAC filters are just one item in an endless list of things that are different. It took me 2.5 years to find a filter that would fit my system. Even the brick-and-mortar mobile home supply stores don't carry them, which is ridiculous and another discussion.
The mass-produced filters you find in literally every store all have a one-inch cardboard frame. They're not made for mobile home systems, and don't fit. Sure, you can tear them apart and stuff the actual filter part into your frame. Which takes an hour because it's stiff cardboard and the filter material is glued to it. Screw that. Buy this Aqupon filter. It is frameless, and you can cut it for an exact fit.
I was skeptical about cleaning it because of the material. But it held up beautifully to the power of my 22 year old 13 amp Dirt Devil can vac, and now that I've done it I anticipate being able to use the filter longer than the one year suggested lifespan. Once you vacuum it, it's good as new. If you wonder how much airborne junk it catches, see the attached pictures. They show each side of the filter before cleaning it. This is after approximately 6 months in the hottest and driest months in Arizona.
The only reason I took one star away from ease of installation is that I'd prefer to be able to buy the exact size I need and not have to cut it to fit. Other than that pretty minor inconvenience, this is essentially a 5-star filter.
