Product Description

MATCHA GREEN TEA

Matcha is a unique type of tea made from whole Japanese green tea leaves. Before harvest, the plant is kept shaded from the sun. This results in boosted chlorophyll content and an incredibly vibrant emerald color.

Matcha is a known energy booster and is roughly ten times more potent than regular green tea. The process of grinding the whole leaf into a super fine powder yields a higher concentration of nutrients and a stronger flavor profile.

Our Matcha Powder is pure and simple. No additives are used at any point in the process.

This product has been verified to be absent of GMOs. Sunfood does not support the use of GMOs.

All Sunfood products, including those that are not certified organic, are sourced to be free of GMOs.

PLANT-BASED / VEGAN

This product is made entirely from plant-based ingredients. No animal products are used at any point in the manufacturing process, and none of our products are ever tested on animals.

KOSHER

Sunfood and its suppliers comply with a strict policy of kosher food laws, including cleanliness, purity and quality.

We are currently certified by Earth Kosher.

MATCHA TEA GREEN LATTE

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Matcha Powder
  • 2 oz hot water (heated or iced)
  • 8oz Almond milk
  • Yacon Syrup or Coconut Palm Sugar (to sweeten)

Directions:

  • In a cup, stir Matcha into hot water until smooth
  • Pour almond milk over matcha tea, stir.
  • Sweeten with Yacon Syrup or Palm Sugar to taste.
  • Drink warm or add ice for a cold beverage. Enjoy!

    I had a bad feeling when this arrived home (Whole Foods pickup order) and saw “product of China” printed on the back. Now, China does great tea, but matcha is a Japanese thing. The description/marketing language and photos say Japan and Japanese multiple times, so that’s quite disingenuous. I finished a different brand bag first (tried quite a few—never had one this bad) and when I finally opened this I knew I was in trouble. Could hardly even be called green, let alone the bright vibrant green of quality matcha. It’s yellow-brown. Let’s call it baby poop color. I made my morning matcha latte anyway because I’m an addict, and not only did it look very unappealing due to the color, but the taste is disgusting. Inedible. I use a blender because I’m lazy yet this was still grainy—that’s also never happened before. Stay far away. There are lots of totally acceptable actually Japanese matcha options for the same price.

    Either I received a faulty batch or, based on other reviews, this is just a really bad matcha. First, the color is a murky green. I am not a matcha expert but I do know that high quality matcha should be a vibrant green color, and this is the opposite. Similar to the off color, the flavor is not what a matcha should taste like and is way, way too bitter. Finally, the bag displays that the matcha originates in China, not Japan. I know this is cheap, but that is the only appealing thing about this product. Do yourself a favor and invest in more expensive, quality matcha; it is so worth it. You really get what you pay for.
