One thing I would fix about the product and that should be updated: the edges all the way around should start at a slant like slope to make for an easy transition from your carpet to this. It would help from the stubbing your toes and feet on the edges.
My only minor comments are 1) it does tend to shift forward into my wall over time. Not a huge deal and don't know if larger studs would really prevent that. 2) it's edges feel a little sharp, but you'd probably have to try to get cut on them. Maybe run something hard along the edge if you're worried about it. 3) *** Make sure to read the instructions when unpacking - this thing really wants to come unrolled quickly and is not light weight/ could take you out if you're not careful.
This chair mat works well on carpet, but ships with sharp, unfinished edges. The gripper “nubs” on the reverse side are only about 1/8 inch long and should work on almost any kind of carpet, not just “thick” carpets. Gone are the days when high quality chair mats were made thicker and stronger, and with finished, beveled edges. These mats are come with unbeveled edges that may at times, snag your toe, foot or shoe if not careful, though it is not problematic for me. When your chair casters come off the mat onto carpet, it is not as easy to get the caster back on the mat. Unfortunately, it seems almost all chair mats these days have unbeveled and unfinished edges. In addition, the edges are sharp. I had to use a file to take down the edges before use so I wouldn’t cut my (bare) feet. After using an assortment of chair mats for many years, I would like to recommend the following:
1. Buy a polycarbonate chair mat instead of a vinyl chair mat. Polycarbonate is harder and won’t dimple like vinyl. Casters can become “stuck” in the dimple, hampering free movement of the chair.
2. Open the package outside or in a large, open area. As other reviewers have noted, the mat is bound in a roll and is prone to a violent release of energy when you cut it free. It must be tightly controlled upon opening, otherwise injury may result. Edges are sharp. Get a helper if possible and wear gloves (yes, it is that serious).
3. Buy a chair mat (for carpet) that is at least 0.11 inches thick. Any thinner, and it won’t last too long, especially on carpet. The thicker the better. It is advisable to take note of the thickness in the dimensions before deciding. My last mat was a polycarbonate mat at 0.09 inches of thickness and lasted only 2 years on carpet although I used the soft, rubber chair casters. That extra 0.02 inches on my new 0.11 mat makes a noticeable difference.
4. Replace the plastic casters on your office chair, even if new with rubber (skate board type) wheels. They make them specifically for replacing chair casters. Most are a simple “pull out the old, push in the new installation”. The small, plastic casters that originally come with you chair are not only hard on mats, but don’t roll well. You will be amazed at how much better (and quieter) the rubber wheel casters are, and your mat will last longer. One thing to note, the new wheels may add height to the chair. If you have short legs and use your chair at the lowest setting, some casters may not be suitable.
5. File down all sharp edges with a metal file (it is very hard material) for safety.
Stays in place and does not move for me. I've never had to adjust it once it was in place.

Pros
1. It came shipped flat so we placed it down and used it right away.
2. We put it partially under our desk and one 5 inch area is covered by the PC.
3. It is solid and the chair wheels glide nicely with no bends or dips.
4. It hasn't moved one iota in a week.
5. It has lots of grips on the bottom which grabs our thick Berber carpet.
6. The 4 corners have nicely rounded edges and all of the edges are not sharp.
You can't go wrong with this clear chair mat for thicker carpets.
We expect several years of use out of this mat.
