Remote Access the SSKHard Drive from Anywhere

When you are in a remote location (away from your SSK drive), as long as it is powered and connected to the internet and the UID setup has been completed, you will be able to access the SSK drive via cellular or wi-fi connection. In this scenario when the SSK Cloud App is opened it will first attempt to connect to the SSK drive via local connections and, if unsuccessful, will then attempt to connect via the remote UID connection. Once successful the App will indicate a connection has been made and you are can stream or read / write files to the SSK unit or any attached USB storage device from your remote location.

Hard Drive Operating Modes Introduction( Four Modes)

Turn on the Hard drive for Mode 1~3; Turn off the Hard drive for Mode 4.

Mode 1 Allows for wireless connection of phones / tablets / computers to the SSK Drive WITHOUT having any internet connection via the SSK Cloud App and the built in wi-fi.

⒈Mobile phone/Tablet PC/Computer connect the Hard drive’s WiFi hotspot; ⒉Mobile phone/Tablet PC/Computer access the Hard Drive via SSKCloud App/Software; 3. All devices have no internet connection.

Mode 2 With internet connections to all devices via Wireless Bridge Mode.

⒈ Connect the Hard drive to Router via wireless bridge(User Manual Page 5); ⒉ Mobile phone/Tablet PC/Computer connect the Router’s WiFi; ⒊ Mobile phone/Tablet PC/Computer access the Hard Drive via SSKCloud App/Software; 4. All devices have the internet and can access the content stored on the Hard Drive.

Mode 3 With internet connections using Wired Access Point (AP) Mode.

⒈ Connect the Hard drive to Router via LAN cable; ⒉ Mobile phone/Tablet PC/Computer connect the Router’s WiFi; ⒊ Mobile phone/Tablet PC/Computer access Hard Drive via SSKCloud App/Software; 4. All devices on your home network have the internet and can access the content stored on the Hard Drive.

Mode 4 This is a USB only Mode allowing access of a single computer to the SSK units internal HDD.

⒈Turn off the Hard Drive; ⒉Connect Hard drive to computer via provided USB3.0 Cable.

1. Please download and install the SSKCloud App on "Apple store" or "Google Play" for mobile devices;

The software for PC/Mac is on the drive itself. Just use it as an external drive to copy the binaries onto your system and install the ''app''.Or you can check our website to see if have the newer version.Note: When you download the SSKCloud App from our website, please don't use the Google Chrome Browser, please use other Browsers to download. Thank you.

2. For computer, You can also MAP the SSK HDD to Windows Explorer on a PC or to a Mac using the Samba Protocol. SSKCloud software has addressed to access Samba. Please Click : " Samba Management", it will switch to Samba interface automatically, you don't need to enter the IP address and password manually. After mapped, the drive will be turned to a network Drive.

Once mapped on a PC or Mac you will find a series of folders already setup under \share_sda1. The device comes with a bunch of "default" folders that you can't delete (they are all "system folders"). These must be left on the device as they are but you can add additional folders here and as sub folders under the already setup folders. You also can use your PC or Mac to read /write / delete files in these folders that will be accessible on the PC or Mac as well as from a phone or tablet connected to the SSK locally or remotely.

How to set up the drive on mobile phone and have the internet access?

1. Install the SSKCloud App on your phone and turn on the SSK Drive(If can not power on or LED flash Red, please charge it first);

2. Open "Settings" on your phone (Not SSKCloud App) and click: WiFi, and select F200_**_** WiFi Hotspot to connect;

3. After connected the SSK Drive’s WiFi hotspot, your phone may prompt: “no internet, do you want to switch to another network?” Please choose “no” to ensure your phone has connected the SSK Drive’s WiFi hotspot;

4. Click the SSK Cloud App, enter the password to finish the initial settings, follow the tips to exit and enter the APP again, it will prompt no internet connection, you can simply connect the SSK Drive to Router via lan cable or wireless bridge it to internet.( Detail please follow the user manual or FAQ on our website to set the Drive to internet);

5. After that, your mobile phone can connect the SSK Drive’s WiFI or Router’s WiFi to access Drive and have the internet at the same time. Recommend to connect the Router’s WiFi.

    I bought this to use as a wifi cloud storage device so I could carry images and videos around for visual references. It has never once worked without at least twenty minutes of fidgeting to get connected and find the files. Once you're connected to it, you lose all access to the internet without a series of functions, prayer, and divine intervention. God help you if your intent is to have a presentation on this.

      Bought this as a way to backup my photos from SD cards while out in the field. Downloaded the app, hooked it all up, but it will not do a backup from an SD card. The option is there, but it doesn't work. I tried multiple SD cards but nothing. It just sits there doing nothing. I can manually move photos from the SD card to the drive, but I do not feel safe doing this as I once accidentally deleted everything from my SD card. The interface is horrendous and the fact that it just freeze up every time you try to backup an SD card means it is worthless to me.

      Only had it for 2 weeks. Had to download the instructions from online. Which is al good. Working with it for 2 weeks, testing different connectivity's. Here are my ideas:
      Pro:
      1. It works, so USB 3.0.,Ethernet, or WIFI. All works. Only thing i still want to try is connecting it direct to my camera. As soon as i test that i will update my review.
      2. It is portable. I can take it easy everywhere. Fits in my pocket.
      3. Build in battery is good enough.
      4. WIFI is strong, for a small device.

      Cons:
      1. It is not as fast that they say it is. Fastest way would be USB connected. But LAN or through WIFI it takes a while.
      2. Software needs updating. Sometimes it gets stuck. Sometimes it works just fine. Some times you have to turn of turn on so it connects. Online i wish it could give a type of way that i can use a link to update stuff from another phone. Than i don't need do every time have the app to upload stuff.

      Overall it is OK. I'm a proud ravpower owner. So i wanted to try something else, positive about this is, the ravepower HUB is just a HUB, had to connect Harddrive and USB to back up files. This has its own HDrive. So that is 1 positive point for me when im at work and need to back up video files.

      26/03/ 2022 Update: So I've been traveling and making use of this as my HDD on the go for my media files. I've used is as backup for my camera footages. Also for hotspot and providing internet to my family. I ran in a couple of issue with it, I've mailed support about my issues, and les than 2 days I got really good response. Support team was really easy to talk with. Gave them my suggestions, and they suddenly provide ideas how to make it better. From them there will be an update coming soon.

      I still did not try connecting it direct to a camera. But from my feeling it will not work, because the ethernet port on it is more for networking on a system that has a software and that is not something my camera has.

      This drive works for what I need it for - holding a large volume of movies I watch while traveling. (BTW, I download them from my paid subscription services with an app called Playon.) The device creates its own wifi network which I connect to with my iPad. I can also share the password with others traveling with me and they can watch anything in the library, not necessarily the same as what I am watching. However, the app (iPad software) leaves something to be desired. First, the navigation looks like something from 1998; a basic folder tree rather than recognizing movies and grabbing the thumbnails (like Plex does.) And the iPad must be in portrait orientation to read it. Once the movie starts I can rotate the iPad into landscape mode and I'm happy again. So if the kids are traveling with me, I have to help them get things set up. I wouldn't think it would require much code to fix the orientation issue or to provide an easier to use interface, but no one took the time which is annoying and why I didn't give it a full five stars.

      3 month Update: The battery life on this unit is terrible after just a few uses. Even after overnight charge it didn’t last a whole movie. I sold It in our last garage sale and will be shopping for something better. The idea is awesome but very poor execution. Dropped rating down to two stars.

The first time I installed the Android app, the transfers between my phone and the drive were EXTREMELY SLOW, but after uninstalling it and reinstalling the drive is now very fast. I found the iOS app much better at setting up the drive and it does have automatic backup for photos and videos. The Android app will also ask to backup new photos automatically, but can't be disabled. I found it's best to configure the drive with no cables connected using battery power. This was the cause of some of the difficulty configuring the drive since the battery was dead on arrival and I had it connected to my computer to charge.
      The mistake I was making was trying to use it as a USB drive on my computer and backup from my phones, but that isn't supported. If you boot the drive without the USB port connected, it will boot into the NAS and backup mode.
      For home use I've attached it via LAN cable to my router. This does make the file transfers much faster and then you don't have to switch your WiFi to the SSK Cloud hotspot.

      I recently purchased this drive with the hope of using it to back up my iPhone, which is full of precious family memories. Unfortunately, my experience with this product was far from satisfactory.
      User Guide Issues: The user guide was so small that I couldn’t read the instructions to connect to the drive. I had to resort to searching for tutorials on YouTube, which was inconvenient and time-consuming.
      Transfer Problems: I intended to transfer video recordings from my iPhone to the drive, but the process was incredibly frustrating. The transfer would stop working after just three minutes, forcing me to reconnect to the drive via WiFi and restart the transfer each time. It took me five hours to move just 20 recordings.
      Slow Performance: Due to the slow WiFi transfer speeds, I decided to connect the drive directly to my laptop. Even then, it took an exhausting 11 hours to transfer my files. I had to stay up until 2 AM to complete the transfer of 98 folders, as the drive couldn’t calculate the time for all the folders at once.
      Data Security Concerns: After finally finishing the transfer, I was so disappointed that I decided to return the drive to Amazon. However, I was concerned that my data might not be completely deleted, so I opted to use an old USB drive instead.
      Final Thoughts: Overall, this WiFi drive was not worth the hassle. If you’re considering purchasing this product, be aware that you might lose your precious data. I cannot recommend it based on my experience.
