I do not know what possessed me to poke at some other insulation but when I did two mice popped out. One jumped on me and ran down my arm and scurried away and the other one just sat and stared at me before going back where he came from. I was totally freaked out of course. I'm not particularly afraid of mice, but having one run down my arm was a bit creepy!
Anyway I placed one trap on each side of where I saw them and left them. I came back the next morning and both traps had mice in them. It's easy to empty and there was no blood or guts, just turn them upside down and release the lever over a trash bag. I reset the traps and by evening we had one more.
It's pretty easy to set these traps but remember that they have to be sensitive or the tiny mouse would not be able to trip it. I use the gel attractant by tomcat and you just need a little dot in the little cup. It's not heavy enough and it sticks in there so you do not have to add more when resetting unless it's been awhile and its dried up or something. The little plate that trips can sometimes be tricky to get the trap to set so lift up the lid and play with the angle of that plate and you will get it to set. I suggest familiarizing yourself with how they work before you catch a mouse so you can get the hang of it. I can re-use mine several times but when the trap is sprung it does so with quite a lot of force so eventually you may not be able to set the trap.
Considering I only paid about $2.50 each for these, I feel they are an excellent value especially since I get several uses out of them. One other nice thing about these traps is that they are covered and have a small entrance so if you have cats they won't get into this and hurt themselves.
I've used these inside and also outside to catch voles that were ruining my yard. They are the best snap traps I have ever tried and each time I have caught a mouse it's dead instantly, so it's way more humane than a glue trap and there is no messing with poison.

I finally decided to just deal with it myself and purchased these traps. I placed a small amount of peanut butter directly in the cup (it was a little tough to get it directly in the whole, but I used a plastic knife and then my finger to help clean up the area), set the traps, and then placed them in areas of the attic roughly where I believed them to be active. Within 12 hours, 3 of the 4 traps had a kill and the 4th wasn't touched. Two of the traps had smaller mice that were nearly fully in the trap save for their tail, while the 3rd had a very large mouse that had roughly half his body still outside the trap. All three were dead.
Removal was quite easy. I held the traps above the trash can and pulled the latch and the mice fell right out. Then I just repeated the process with the peanut butter, reset the three traps, and placed them back in the attic. Overall, pretty easy to use. You should be careful with how much peanut butter you use, as it's possible you'll gum up the mechanism if you place too much in, but you really shouldn't need a lot.
I also accidentally set a few traps before placing the bait in, and was able to pretty easily reset two of them by slowly pulling the lever again. One didn't release on its on, so I just tapped the cup with a plastic knife and it reset for me. Each of these I was then able to load back up and set no problem.
Wish I had bought one unit only instead of this duo pack. Duo pack was pointless if only one is going to work.
