Usage data don’t lie, this is awesome
The fan is relatively quiet, I can’t hear it from inside the house, on the outside, I have to be right under the fan to hear it, suck heat out of my attic effectively and I see the drastic change in our electrical consumption comparing September usage (and it was actually installed Sept 11) to 2 years past, we went from reaching tier 3 down to tier 2, we had 2 guest for a week adding to the Sept usage right before the install, so it most probably is supposed to be even lower, Very satisfiedSolar Panel installation was a bit of a challenge as our roof pitch is very steep, So I installed it on side of house instead, so not fully maximizing solar power efficiency, I guess better than me falling off the roof

There was a plugin attic fan in my house when we bought it. It didn’t work. Decided to get this one because of the solar panel and the plug for night time use. It gets very hot here in Fresno California in the summer, so any help keeping the house cool is welcomed. I was able to mount it to the existing vent that was already there. The plug was long enough to reach the previous electric plug. The solar cord I ran through the house right above were the fan was to be. I had to use a drill bit to make the hole in the middle of the mount wider so that the cord would fit through. I gooped tha baJesus out of it so that it wouldn’t leak. It kicked on and I’m happy. Only complaint is that I was only able to mount three of the four brackets. The adjustment screws both stripped on one side. I was in the attic sweating like a pig and it wasn’t wobbling or anything. This one costs a little more than the others, but it’s a brand I’ve actually heard of, it’s got 15 year warranty, and I can get a rebate on 21-26% of the price on my taxes next year.

I'm a huge 'fan' of QuietCool products! I installed one of their whole-house fans a few years ago at my old house and just installed this gable-vent attic fan recently.
Other than the obstacle course of rafters/trusses that is my attic, the install was really quicker than I expected.
Positioned the solar collector on the side of the house just under the gable vent, as I didn't want to have it on my shingles. I also enlarged the actual vent cut-out (behind the decorative gable-vent louvers) with a skillsaw to allow maximum airflow.
Not that it's been real hot here in Idaho yet, but I can already tell a major difference in that the dank, humid, warm air in the afternoon that would infiltrate my house towards the evening, is no longer noticeable with this new fan!
I believe this is going to keep me from having to run the A/C so much this summer. It is really quiet and smooth-running. Well worth the $$ and I think almost any homeowner should be able to install it with relative ease.
