Took up sewing late in life & bought an older used machine (different brand) from a friend but had trouble with bobbin casing, so I bought this machine for a fresh start. I chose a model on the lower end of the price range, but not the cheapest, because I want to enjoy sewing without frustration. I dont need alot of bells & whistles! Have had it for over a year & am happy with it. I mostly just use it for clothing alterations, repairs & hemming. But have made several items without any issues with material thickness differences, thread tension errors nor thread disasters! This machine has a good variety of stitch designs & is easy to thread & navigate. My only two fusses: The Auto Thread Feature is not easy to use. Needs some further engineering upgrades! I gave up trying to use it. AND The machine does not come with a Manual. C’Mon Singer!!! - How much could it possibly cost to respectively include the Manual? Overall, am happy with this machine.

Good machine, don't buy on Amazon
My machine is fine, it sews alright BUT Amazon definitely sent me a returned machine for full price. It included everything but one of the spool holder things was broken (pictured), The bobbin winder was broken and had bits of paper stuffed in it (pictured), and it already had some bobbins thread through the machine and needle which left it a little bit jammed. So, good machine but DO NOT BUY IT FROM AMAZON

I've had the same Singer since 1985. It was easy to use and very reliable. Then it broke and was not worth repairing. I've had this new machine for four months, and I am so done with it!! It freezes up and I end up with multiple threads coming out of it, or all kinds of loops of thread inside the bobbin case. I took it in to a Joann store. They didn't have a repair person there but two separate people told me the case must be wobbly. I used a screw driver to tighten the screws. They were a little loose. But, no, the problem still exists. So frustrating because I have several pieces I need to work on right now, and I've got to find a repairman. Don't buy this machine.
The Bobbin Continually is a PROBLEM. Good for batting practice though.
