About this item
- 100% Organic Cotton
- Made in the USA or Imported
- Organic: Esembly’s reusable, GOTS certified organic cotton Inners are soft, absorbent, and trim fitting.
- No Leaks or Blow-outs: Avoid the infamous diaper explosions! Esembly diapers are made of 2 leak-proof parts. The Inner provides the absorbency and the Esembly Outer (sold separately) layers over the Inner for waterproofing and containment. Together they make a complete, blowout-proof cloth diaper.
- Landfill-free and $ Saving: Instead of going through endless packs of disposables (6500+ if we’re talking numbers), with Esembly you only need 20-24 diapers Inners, and 6 Outers (in each of the 2 sizes) from birth through potty training. This not only saves the planet from diaper waste but saves you money too!
- Adjustable: The Esembly Cloth Diaper Inners were made to grow with your baby. They come in two trim-fitting sizes: Size 1 (7-17lbs) and Size 2 (18-35lbs). The waist snaps allow for adjustments to accommodate expanding bellies, while the rippled core and stretchy leg elastic expand as your baby gets taller.
- Easy to Launder: Afraid of the laundry? Don’t be. Inners are designed by diaper laundering experts! Wash them twice per week following Esembly’s easy and effective 4-step instructions. For best results, launder with specially formulated Esembly Washing Powder (sold separately). Inners get washed after each use, Outers can be used multiple times before laundering.

-
How do I use the Inner cloth diaper? Do I need an Outer diaper cover over it?
The Inner fitted diaper is the absorbent part of our 2 part cloth diaper. Snap the Inner on baby then cover with an Outer (sold separately). The Outer provides the waterproofing and containment. The Outer is a necessary part of the diaper.
-
Are they bulky? Will I need to size up baby’s clothes?
Esembly cloth diapers come in two trim fitting sizes to take baby from birth-potty training. They are the trimmest fitting natural fibers out there and will fit beautifully under baby’s clothing with no need to size up.
-
How do I clean the Inners?
After a decade washing 18,000 cloth diapers a week through our busy NYC diaper service we came up with a simple 4 step wash routine and PATENTED Washing Powder. Follow our instructions and cloth diapering is as easy as 2-3 loads of laundry a week!
-
How many Inners do I need?
For full time cloth diapering we recommend having 24 Inners and 6 Outers. For part time diapering you’ll want to have approx 12 Inners and 4 Outers. General rule of thumb is to have 3 Inners for every Outer.
-
Do I need to use certain diaper creams?
It's important when cloth diapering to use only "cloth-safe" diaper creams. Cloth Safe means the products will wash out and not cause permanent staining and build up. All Esembly Skincare products are specially formulated for use with cloth diapers.

Honest Review of Esembly Cloth Diaper Inner
Josie Norton
Important information
Directions
Put a fresh Inner on your baby at each change. Cover the Inner with a waterproof Outer to make a complete diaper. Change your baby every 2-3 hours, or immediately if poop is detected. To accommodate long nighttime sleep stretches, boost the absorbency of your diaper with an Esembly Overnighter (sold separately). When soiled, set aside in an Esembly Day Bag or Pail Pouch (sold separately) until laundry day. Launder your Inners and Outers every 2-3 days using Esembly Washing Powder (or similar clean-rinsing detergent) as per Esembly’s super-simple, 4-step wash instructions.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2024Color: Inners 6-packStyle: Size 2Verified PurchaseThis is now my favorite diaper system. So far I only was able to get 3 size 1 and a cover. As my baby got bigger as soon as I was able I got 6 size 2 and a cover. I have never had a blow out in these diapers. Never had pants get soaked. Super easy to switch out and keeps the outer cover clean almost always. Very well made stitching. I love the pattern colors and options and will be getting more and swapping out my old pocket diapers for these as I can. They are my go to, grab diapers for when we go out, I know they work well and won't fail me. Plus the biggest reason I first tried essembly diapers is because they are 100% cotton. My most favorite thing about them.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2023Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 2Verified PurchaseI used pocket diapers and pre folds with my first kids so I only found these after I started cloth diapering my one-year-old twins (babies 5&6). I am in love! I got these little covers really cheap on Amazon (pictured) and they work amazing!
Reasons these diapers are amazing:
-They are like a pre fold in that they are 100% organic cotton but WAY easier to use (no folding or messing with a clasp.
- They provide all the convenience of a pocket diaper but you don’t have to stuff it!
- They are very absorbent and so far do not leak.
- They are plain white so they work with both gender baby and you can pass them down and just buy new inexpensive covers if you want to change things up!
A few minor complaints:
-They aren’t as versatile in sizes. Pocket diapers and pre folds you can shrink down to fit a newborn but you have to buy different sizes with these.
-You have to wash a few times before they really get absorbent and they take a bit longer to dry because it is all one piece.
-They are also not as versatile as a pre fold or a pocket because you cannot add absorbent layers. (Hasn’t bothered me so far. I just have some pocket diapers to use if I need to do that)
-They aren’t the cheapest option but I think adding a pack or two to your stash is a worthwhile investment.
If you are thinking about trying these just do it! I don’t often take the time to review products but to help other mammas I will!
*As a bonus side note, I use the same little waterproof covers with some plain white organic cotton training pants I got on Walmart.com so I will continue to use the covers over underwater through potty training and over the diapers at night!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2024Color: Inners 6-packStyle: Size 1Verified PurchaseThis is my first baby and I knew I wanted to use cloth diapers because they’re healthier for her, cheaper overall and would be more sustainable. I researched the whole pregnancy for the best cloth diapers and Essembly was always the brand that came up so we decided to go with them. We have the full set up, the diapers, liners, overnight liners, reusable wipes, agitators and detergent. They’re soooooo easy to clean, we rinse poop off in the sink and throw them in the wash, ZERO STAINS! If you hang them out to dry in the sun too they feel really durable and like they’ll last forever. She is a little tiny, 7lbs, so they leak a bit out the sides but only when there’s no waterproof cover on. I like the snaps are adjustable too so you can just keep moving them back as they grow and the ease of layering the liners how you want and what works best for you makes them really nice vs the ones you slide the insert inside. We have 30 diapers, 24 overnights, 48 liners, 48 wipes and wash every 2 days.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2025Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 2Verified PurchaseThese are great!! Our baby's (size 3) disposable diaper gets so full every night that it usually leaks/overflows, so I place this over the top to help absorb any overflow, and it works perfectly!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2024Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 2Verified PurchaseLOVE THESE! We only cloth diaper part-time. I used to CD with pockets, but HATED stuffing them, and daughter kept ending up with a rash (thinking from the synthetic linings).
PROS: organic cotton, convenient, fits my 15 mo well. Haven't had any leaks yet. Lovely eco-friendly option. Very well-made.
CONS: the stitching that hold the "insert" part down, can be a little difficult to get poo out of. They are a little pricey, but I think the quality balances out fairly well.
Overall, a great cloth option. I've seen people complain in their reviews about having to put on the inner, and then the outer. Yes, but if you don't want to do that, choose a different type of cloth diapering system lol. (Pockets, AIO, etc)
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2024Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 1Verified PurchaseI wanted to try cloth diapers on my baby and these came really handy. They are bit expensive but worth it. It fitted perfectly for my baby upto ~15lbs. It can hold pee just once so you might need to purchase more of these. But still I liked these so much because baby can feel the wetness immediately and cries so that I can remove it immediately to avoid any rashes/redness. You can add an extra level of cotton padding but it will be bulkier. If baby is okay with leg movements you can keep it on else not recommended.
Easy to clean pee by adding to laundry along with other clothes. For poop, either it needs handwash immediately in hot water to avoid stains or use diaper liners so that it will make cleaning easier.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2025Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 2Verified Purchaserecently took on cloth diapering (little one 9 months old) and we loved it ordered some extra inners as we started out with 6 to try out with 2 outer covers. I love the quality of esembly and how the inners and outer snap on like a disposable amazing design. They fit our babe so well, so easy to wash everything comes out with no staining and we’ve realized how much money we could’ve been saving this whole time already made back what we spent on starting our system plus more compared to what we would’ve spent on disposables.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2024Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 1Verified PurchaseI bought these to use before a I inherited a size-1 stash from a friend. But I quickly realized that these are rather large - larger than the size 1s that I have already.... were they perhaps mistakenly labeled?? After two months, I still have not been able to use them, and baby is already past 11lbs. I washed and dried them, thinking that it just needed the good ol' dryer shrinkage, but it didn't work.
Other than that, Esemblies are amazing. Love the fact that they are cotton and adjustable around the waist. I do wish that the attached liners were removeable, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grows with your baby
Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 2Verified PurchaseI love that these diapers offer sizes that grow with my baby. I think it has saved us a lot of money I the long run, especially since we'll be reusing them for baby #2! The only thing I will note is that with cloth diapers, you'll probably need your baby to be wearing larger size clothes to accommodate for the extra inch of fabric. As well, personally there was about a month where my baby was too big for size 1 and too small for size 2 so we needed to use some disposable diapers in between.

5.0 out of 5 stars Esembly is our go to hands down
Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 2Verified PurchaseMy wife and I have tried many different brands and styles of cloth diapers and training underwear and these are by far our go to, they're very absorbent and seem to fit our baby quite well, other brands it seems end up leaking pee out of them unfortunately. Keep up the great work Esembly!

2.0 out of 5 stars too small for my 26.5lb 10 month old
Color: Inners 3-packStyle: Size 2Verified Purchasevery soft, a nice product, but too small unfortunately for my 26.5lb 10 month old. We bought size 2. he's quite tall too so not that big around the middle.
