UPDATE: THREE defective IGLOO trailmates in a row.
1 out of 5 stars
UPDATE: THREE defective IGLOO trailmates in a row.
Update: I just received my THIRD Igloo Trailmate 50 and this one is ALSO defective. The FIRST had been overfilled with insulation foam and the bottom was damaged, the SECOND had foam leaking from the seams pushed them apart, and now I just opened the THIRD one to find the lid blown out and warped due to the same overfilling issue!!!What's going on at the Igloo company?"I'm writing this after receiving my second Igloo Trailmate 50 replacement in the mail today. The first had a LARGE air bubble lifting the entire interior cooler floor up about two inches. As a lifelong Igloo cooler family/owner, I contacted Igloo directly about the issue and was given a very scripted AI response, that included images of how to return it to Amazon (which I found a bit insulting and belittling).I did return it to Amazon for an exchange (without needing the Igloo tutoria), and Amazon being AMAZING as always, sent the replacement in record time for the absolute win.Unfortunately, the replacement cooler I received had foam all over the exterior shell, and when I took it completely out of the box, I noticed that there was dried foam leaking from all the exterior seams. As well as sharp unfinished edges on the lid (both of which was not an issue on the previous cooled that had the interior air bubble problem). When I closed the cooler lid on the second one, I could hear air being pushed out of the seams that the foam had forced open. These open seams could easily make the perfect breeding ground and/or environment for potentially harmful bacteria to grow when moisture from condensation builds up inside. Also, any moisture that gets trapped inside of this defect can't be properly cleaned, so it could very well become a health issue. With that being said, I live in Alaska and already own SEVERAL Igloo budget level, and even commercial marine coolers for hauling salmon and wild game, so I'm extremely disappointed that when I finally invest into one of their high end recreational coolers, that I receive TWO that are totally unusable and should have NEVER left the Igloo factory.Furthermore, I'm surprised by Igloo's lack customer satisfaction when it comes to taking accountability for their (repeatedly) defective products that were allowed to leave their factory...I honestly expect more from of a USA based product/company.Luckily, Amazon took up their slack, made it right and even apologized for Igloo...also, both coolers came in the original/unopened company packaging, so there was no way that Amazon knew that they were defective...however, Amazon still took care of it regardless.I'm currently awaiting my third attempt to get a Igloo Trailmate 50 cooler thats quality actually matches the $129 price tag, so I'll update my review when it arrives (hopefully one WITHOUT any more obvious defects)."

This cooler is absolutely amazing! It’s extremely durable and is able to traverse any terrain. It has a great ice retention and is able to hold A LOT of drinks!

A couple things I noticed that should be mentioned:

    Pros:
-Left cold cuts in the dry storage basket all weekend and they stayed cold and fresh the entire time.

    - Tons of storage space for drinks/food (Put 96 cans in there and they stayed cold all weekend)

-The telescopic handle makes it extremely easy to drag this monstrosity over grass, curbs and rocks. ( I have yet to try at the beach)

-Lots of compliments from people LOL

    Cons:
    - It’s not advertised how BIG this cooler really is. I would not recommend buying this if you don’t have an SUV, Truck or live in a small apartment. I have a Mazda 6 (Sedan) and it almost takes up the whole backseat!

-Very hard to load into and out of the car while full!

-The ice DOES NOT last 4 days. I took this behemoth camping over the weekend, put 40 lbs of ice around 4pm on Friday, by Saturday morning it was almost all water. Granted, the lid was left slightly open overnight, but everything was still chilled. On Saturday morning I added 20 more lbs of ice and made sure the lid was closed tightly and the ice lasted until late Sunday night! (Important note: it was left in the shade in roughly 80-90 degree heat all weekend!)

-To add on to my last point, a cooler of this size should definitely have some kind of locking mechanism to ensure the lid is tightly closed! (like Yeti and BruTank have)

-Should definitely have a small handle on the other side to make lifting easier!

Overall it is a great investment for someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, especially if you have a lot of friends/family!!

I have a couple yetis, But they get so damn heavy I need to put them on a wagon. This cooler is a powerhouse work horse. Whether I am doing a catering or entertaining family in the mountains, it’s easy to move. It holds a ton of stuff. It has great ice retention. I absolutely love the charcuterie board attachment, the rod holders, and the dry storage.. This is not a cheap cooler is well worth the money. The big wheels allow you to get over basically anything. It is built well with great customer service from the company. I would challenge anyone who has anything to say about this cooler

I was looking for a good cooler with wheels for the beach. We have Yeti and other brands but they are bulky and prices are pretty high. I have loved igloo for a while and this one did not disappoint.

    Great value
    holds ice long time

We have YETI coolers but they are soooo heavy I don’t like them. This one keeps ice just as long and doesn’t weigh near as much. Bought another one of these.

Love the wheels and rugged look. Took it on boat with friends and was the envy. Yeti has nothing on this! Has a table and dry storage and I think the drinks can stay cold forever!

Fit and finish isn't as nice as with a YETI, you get what you pay for, but what are they thinking charging $300 for one of those when you can get one of these for <$100?
    AND its USA made!

Used it for a few trips already and it's durable, easy to clean, and keeps cold for a couple of days if the conditions are right (more than enough for me).
Won't hesitate to buy again many years from now if/when this one quits.

Got this as a gift for my husband and he loves it. I’m pretty sure he takes it more places than he takes me. I think when he opened it for Christmas, he almost started crying he was so happy. He won’t stop filling it to the max and showing me how much beer it fits and how long it stays cold for…he also won’t stop showing me how easy it is to “maneuver”. I never thought I’d have to fight a cooler for his attention, but here we are.

This cooler is great quality and seems like it will be really durable. We wont know for sure till the summer when we use it more. The wheels are large so it will be great for hauling down trails over rocks and logs etc. it has lots of storage space, the two rod holders are awesome and we are excited to try it out!

It not only looks nice but it holds ice for a very long time. The basket and tray are even more convenient and also have to mention the bottle openers on each side. 5+ STARS
