Overall Opinion: Mielophone has a simple, easy-to-use, and intuitive interface. The look and feel have commonalities with iTunes but it has its own distinctive coloring scheme. It is responsive and lighting fast. Also, the design makes it easy to recognize the song, artist or album you are trying to find. Once you click on a particular selection, extended information about it drops down. Then you can navigate the information using the side scroll bar. You can also play YouTube videos directly from the player. The Tag button on the front menu page of the software lets you discover new songs. You can go to the Tag page and click on a particular one, like Alternative or Soft Rock, and discover the latest songs or most popular songs in those categories. The Radio button on the front menu page gives you access to radio stations in various genres. You can even add your own favorite station to any list. The Market button gives you an opportunity to purchase new music, even though there is already plenty to enjoy for free. Mielophone is currently compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. You can find the necessary download packages on the Mielophone website. The download is free. But you can donate to the development team. If you are a developer, you can also get involved and contribute to the software code. Mielophone is a free software. There is no financial commitment. So it is worth downloading and trying out. You will have an alternative media player available on your computer for free.
