Overall Opinion: X10Hosting might seem too good to be true, and it’s definitely natural to question its promise. Rather than not being true, it’s whether it’s actually good that should be questioned. The service does, in fact, deliver on its promises, but the drawbacks lie rather in what it doesn’t promise, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing at the price point. If you read through the site’s list of features, you’ll notice they merely mention that they offer a service called X10Premium, and if you read through that service’s list of features, a clear image of what is lacking in 10XHosting can be seen. With this free service, you don’t get any sort of uptime or loading speed promise nor any level of customer support. This leads to relatively frequent outages without being provided a clue to when you can expect the service to be back up. Of course, these things would cost the company money to offer, so it’s not fair to expect these things for free and upgrading to the premium service is made reasonable easy. The negatives more or less end there. It’s a very useful service for what it is, and that is a hosting service for things that don’t require much reliability or consistency. The company behind it is a listed Chicago based company named SingleHop that focuses more on enterprise solutions and appears to be reasonably trustworthy. I haven’t found any reports of them selling people’s data or engaging in unethical practices. I’ve used the service a few years ago to test a Wordpress site as I configured and tweaked its design. Of course, this was for testing purposes only, so the slow loading times, the reported occasional downtimes, and the lack of customer support didn’t bother me. I also used it to host a chess game for my own personal use and it definitely enabled me to use it without any hurdles.

Pros: Completely free of charge without strings attached. Doesn’t require the use of any personal information. Doesn’t limit file-size upload for archives. Offers the ability to import and export databases and files, giving you the option to migrate to a different service at any time.

Cons: Suffers from occasional outages. Sites hosting on their servers suffer slow loading times. No customer support aside from a community forum. Files that are larger than 10 megabytes are deleted after four hours of being uploaded. Inactive accounts are deactivated after a month of inactivity and deleted after an additional 20 days.
