Overall Opinion: Gaming on a Windows PC is amazing, but many games require an advanced system. Trying to keep up with the latest technology can be expensive. Game Fire can breath new gaming life into an older PC by freeing up resources that are needed for smooth video rendering. The software will work on systems running Windows XP through Windows 8. Game Fire is offered as a free download, but it still comes with a price. On install, the user will be prompted to add toolbars and other software that is packaged with the program. Presumably, this is how the developers of Game Fire are able to provide the software for free. The good news is that users can opt to not include these extras during the installation. One has to pay attention, however, and uncheck all the right boxes during the install. Once installed, Game Fire provides a simple interface that lets users monitor system resources and make tweaks that will allow games to run faster. When a user switches to Gaming Mode for the first time they will be asked to create a profile. This profile is used to determine which applications should be turned off while gaming. Turning off the applications will free up system memory so that games receive a performance boost. When the Gaming Mode of the software is turned on and off a report is generated. Gamers can use this report to determine where adjustments need to be made. Most adjustments can be made with a single click, and the process is very fast. The program is intuitive and does a respectable job of allocating resources. Versions of the software are available for 32-bit and 64-bit systems. It works as designed, but it should be noted that the program will not completely revitalize an older system. Those with minimal memory may find that the games they have downloaded still experience issues with video streaming.

Pros: Free to download and use Easy to use Reporting to help identify performance issues

Cons: Will not resolve issues like limited memory Packaged with toolbars and other software which must be declined Can prevent some programs from running by default
