What in the Heck is IMG Burn?

We all need to copy discs from time to time. Even though we are living in a cloud happy universe, and this is truer by the day, the need to burn physical discs is still a regular part of most people's PC using experience.

REVIEWING IMG BURN.....

Once upon a time ago, there was an application called DVD Decrypter for people that wanted to copy movie discs. DVD Decrypter worked by making an image of the disc prior to burning it. This was simply because it had to remove macro copyright data and to also be sure this data was gone before burning the disc! The new DVD video disc image was burned onto a blank, and it worked on most set-top players!

The creator of DVD Decrypter got into a little bit of legal trouble because his software was able to make a DVD video disc image with the macro copyright data removed. Long story short, he started making IMG burn! IMG burn will not remove the copyright protection from ANY disc. It WILL make an image of any disc that is not copyrighted, however.

A user will be able to download this program (free of charge,) and create an image that he can then burn with a great deal of adjustability. What is there possibly NOT to love here? Maybe that one feature that we all loved so much
from Decrypter?

Pros of ImgBurn

Plenty of adjustable optical disc features when it comes time to burn that copy.
The program supports almost every disc format known to mankind!
This program has full blu-ray support allowing the user to burn BD-R media.
The software is free and requires no payment information of any kind to get started!

Cons of ImgBurn

No direct disc copy feature (i.e. the program has to first make an image of the disc AND THEN copy that image onto a blank one.)
A great many novice users might be easily intimidated by the vast amount of burning options.
Each time an image is sent to burn, only one burner can be used to burn the disc. This might be discouraging for users that own disc duplicator machines.
Cannot author the subchannel data that used to be found on some audio CD releases in the past.
Adjusting some of these burn settings in an incorrect fashion could result in a disc that is over burned. An over burned disc might damage some types of optics during payback.
No support for RAW formats. This goes for ripping and also for burning.

ImgBurn Icon Features of ImgBurn

A software application that has strong update support (the last big update altered the application a very great deal.
A disc burning utility that allows the user to adjust anything that his heart might so desire.
The file size for this program is very small when compared to others.
It weighs in at just under 2mb on your hard drive!
The ability to easily make an image of any disc that does not have copyright macros in place.
This software allows for a test burn prior to the actual burn.
This can save a great deal of media in certain hairy situations.
Img burn seems to work well with a wide variety of commonly sold media.
