People and the guys gave you popularity, MIRC gave them nothing, except the difficulties to crack

Overall Opinion: I used that a years ago, weren't happy with it, Anyway, it is overrated, and IRC can do without this shit. Unclear windows, bad commands, lags that weren't always from servers, Overall price that is not normal for such a piece of software. Could live without it.

Pros: Challenging interface, far away from "User Friendly"..... You, then know that serious geek speaks to You.

Cons: This was always full of bugs and security has never took as an option.

Dejan Stojanovic is using mIRC a couple of times per year since at least a year or more.

My Opinion on mIRC

Overall Opinion: There isn't much buzz today about Internet Relay Chat, the forerunner of modern day chat applications. mIRC is still a useful utility, however, for those who want features like file sharing from a chat client. The program actually has a built-in file server which makes sharing much simpler. The scripting language is what truly defines mIRC. The language has been developed and refined with each new release of the client. This language is what permits individuals to share files, and it also allows individuals to create multiple aliases. The appearance of the client can also be customized to a user's preferences. mIRC goes beyond basic chat functionality to provide things like a media player. It also allows the user to play chat client games. A downfall of mIRC has always been security vulnerability. The language of mIRC gives it a high level of system access. As a result, the client has been abused in the past by hackers and data thieves. One scary aspect of mIRC is that using it gives the client an ability to delete and rename files. That opens up a whole world of potential issues. There is no charge to download mIRC. It has always been provided as shareware. There is a 30-day trial period when the software is first downloaded, and after this there are advertisements that display when the client launches. This can be frustrating to some users. The interface of the client is clean. It lets users create buddy lists, and the look can also be customized with different colors. Voice messaging is also provided, and users can also add encryption.

Pros: Long history of development Unique and versatile scripting language Very simple to use

Cons: Has some security vulnerabilities Requires extensive system permissions Ad-supported after 30 days

grex is using mIRC every other week recently.
