Overall Opinion: If you need a powerful, fast, and compact word processor that won't break your budget, Atlantis Word Processor can certainly meet your needs. It can handle just about any standard tasks associated with word processing, and it includes a number of features that help shave time off the document creation process. The Power Type feature is just one of these functions. With Power Type, you'll be able to experience auto-complete in a desktop-based text processor. This is a relatively rare feature to find outside of messaging apps. If you're a writer who can't seem to avoid cheesy cliches or repetitious content, Atlantis Word Processor will be able to help. The software has an Overused Words function that will show you which words you use too often so you can start to find replacements for them. Documents can easily be converted into eBooks, and the software is full of other advanced processing features that will make your daily workflow much simpler. The Power Type feature is one that truly helps Atlantis Word Processor stand out. You simply have to type out the initial characters of the word you wish you add next in the text, and a list of suggestions will drop down beneath those initial letters. With the keyboard, you can select one of the suggestions and it will automatically be inserted. To make this feature work for you, it can be customized through the settings of the app with specific words that will pop up as suggestions. Thanks to the software's ability to deal with tabs, you'll be able to deal with several documents in the same app window. Unlike most apps that include tabbed browsing, you can actually dictate the location of the tab bar. It can be placed on any side of the app window. Atlantis Word Processor is also unique because it contains a vast array of tools designed specifically to help writers. These tools include proofreading functions, long sentence alerts, homophone utility, overused words, and much more. Once you have finished with your document, you can export it as an eBook in the EPUB format, which is one of the most common eBook formats in use today. One downside to the software is that it appears quite old. It has icons with high levels of pixelation, and the toolbar is fairly cluttered despite the development of new organization systems. It almost seems as if the software interface was developed in the early 2000s and never improved. Part of the annoying app interface extends to the sound effects in the software. If you start typing through your keyboard, the system will produce typewriter sound effects with each press of a button. This is similar to the artificial clicks that are produced by a mobile device when typing on a touchscreen keyboard. Thankfully, it is possible to turn off all sound effects in the settings for the app. It seems a bit strange that those sound effects would be the default option.
Pros: Auto-Completion Document Tabbing
Cons: Irritating Sound Effects Dull User Interface
