Overall Opinion: Millions of people have benefited from the simple service offered by the website formerly known as bit.ly, now Bitly.com. Since their humble beginnings, Bitly has helped users shorten lengthy internet hyperlinks into tight, convenient and even memorable URLs that take up far less space. This is great for apps like Twitter, which benefit from using fewer characters. Starting in 2016, the company has offered premium services to help business build their brand, track link analytics and optimize customer satisfaction through their new software. Advanced features include the ability to have a link automatically redirect users to the version of a website that is most suited for the size of the screen they are using. A case study is available to prove this method's effectiveness. Businesses with multiple departments can benefit from the software's ability to organize accounts into segmented sub-accounts based on location, brand, channel or user. Bitly is equipped with API to allow developers to do more with their links, such as advanced social sharing, branded short domains and enriched data sources.

Pros: Free to use their most basic service: Shortening a URL Plenty of resources available on the website, including webinars and ebooks, to help with marketing and demonstrate how other, successful brands have used Bitly

Cons: Using anything beyond the basic link services costs money, and a quote is required, so expect a hefty sum
