Overall Opinion: Mac users are continually searching for alternatives to Windows-based programs. That isn't always easy when a vast majority of the world's computers run a Microsoft operating system. Deckset solves the problem of creating visual presentations on the Mac in the tradition of PowerPoint. Users will recognize some similarities, but they will also note one major difference. Deckset creates slidedecks using a Markdown text editor. For those who are unfamiliar with Markdown, it uses keyboard shortcuts to produce things like bold text and italics. The process of using the software begins with creating a new slidedeck. This will open up the Markdown text editor and allow users to input the information they want displayed on a slide. Those individuals who are not familiar with the Markdown language will be pleased to discover that Deckset provides some examples of slides that can assist with the creation process. Even so, the program can be a little hard for novices with the language to master. The software includes an auto-formatting feature that simplifies the process of organizing online and offline files. It also allows users to add custom footers to their slide presentations. Slide numbers can be inserted for more efficient management. Tables are more easily created with this software than they are with some other applications. This can be useful for those who are using the program to create presentations which necessitate the inclusion of scientific data. Other functions of the program are similar to those found in PowerPoint, although some of them can be a little bit hard to locate.
