Overall Opinion: Sticky notes are used by many people to encourage organization and productivity. GumNotes offers sticky note functionality that improves upon the notes application which is bundled with the Windows operating system. It allows notes to be attached to specific files and folders instead of placing them on the desktop where they can become a counterproductive distraction. GumNotes is free to download and use for individuals. There is also a professional license available for businesses. The professional license comes with free email support. The professional version can be used in a commercial context whereas the free version is only for home use. Notes can be attached to any item that is saved on the user's system. This includes files, folders, pictures, emails, and more. Notes are only saved on the local system and not backed up in the Cloud. The format of the saved notes is XML. This makes it possible to export and share notes as needed. Creating useful annotations is where this software succeeds. Users can annotate websites, documents, and emails. The software is fully compatible with Microsoft Office. There is no version for the macOS at the present time. It is possible, however, to sync notes with both the iOS and Android platforms. This can be accomplished because the software is compatible with Simplenote. Using Simplenote to sync notes to other devices requires a separate download. This program is very intuitive. It requires no specialized learning. Using the program is as simple as installing the software and placing a note. It encourages a more organized workspace by putting notes exactly where you need them.
Pros: Very simple interface Attaches notes to the files they relate to Management of notes is efficient
Cons: No version for the Mac Syncing notes to mobile devices requires additional software Professional license required for team sharing
