Paintbrush

Desktop Software Media
Description
When Apple released the original Macintosh in 1984, they included two applications: MacWrite and MacPaint. Twenty-five years later, every Mac still includes a basic text editor in TextEdit, but a simp...le paint program is a thing of the past. Enter Paintbrush; Paintbrush can open and save to most major image formats, including BMP, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and GIF. Full support for transparency is available for image formats that support an alpha channel (currently PNGs and GIFs). You can also paste images copied from many common Mac applications, including Microsoft Office and Apple iWork. Paintbrush is not intended to replace Adobe Photoshop or other high-end image editors. Instead, it aims to fill the need for a basic, streamlined, and Mac-native image editor. Whether you need to quickly crop a photo, add some text to an image, or just have fun doodling, Paintbrush has you covered. Sporting a simple and intuitive UI, Paintbrush will have you discovering your inner van Gogh in no time! Read moreless

Overall Opinion: Paintbrush is a website that is easy to understand but that offers numerous design options that you might not find anywhere else. The program can be used with multiple image formats that include JPEG and GIF. You can create your own images using the tools that are provided or use some of the suggestions that are available when creating images and even a few documents that you share with others. If you don't want to share the images that you create, you can print them or post them on other resources online. There is an option to paste images that you find from other sources onto the documents that you create. The new version of the website features tools that are easier to use and understand as well as a text tool that has been rewritten to conform to some of the latest standards set forth by other online programs. You can resize images as well as the canvases that the images are posted on, cropping them to fit onto the desired screen. Another improvement that you will notice is the speed. You can quickly edit and paste designs instead of waiting several moments for the images to load. There aren't a lot of details with the website that you would find with other design programs, but you will be able to perform simple tasks related to image designing and transferring. This is an option that you have if you need to crop a picture that you upload or one that you find online or if you need to add words to images.

Pros: Edit images with multiple options Simple to use and understand Offers faster services

Cons: Limited as to how many editing tools are available Can be difficult to share to other resources
