Overall Opinion: Ring is a fantastic software if you are looking for a free alternative to Skype. There are many features that work well and seamlessly in the Open Source software program. You can text, talk, video conference, and even send media files with ease.

Pros: Open Source Programming: The fact that this software is Open Source allows for potential modifications and open-ended programming. The coding is not copyrighted and is kept free for all to use. Secured Encryption: The software is obviously in need of security measures. The end-to-end encryption is industry-standard and incorporates X.509 authentification certificates. Free Software: The communication platform is free to use for everyone. The goal of the programmer is to keep the software free. The platform is released under a GPLv3 license.

Cons: User-friendliness: The software is useful and somewhat user-friendly. The software is lacking in the ability to be used across multiple platforms. Google Talk is much easier to use across multiple platforms. Business Tool Integration: The intention for an easy to use communication platform is apparent in the open design of the software. The issue arises when desiring to implement this with other business communication tools on the internet. The software would not be very useful for business in comparison to a similar program, Slack. Better for Programmers: This software can be used by anyone, but it is better to say that it is aimed at developers. An alternative would be Skype if a person was wanting a more feature-rich experience with this type of software aimed at the end consumer.
