Business Software Analytics
Description
XGBoost is software that uses algorithms to solve complex science problems. Technically, it's an open source software library, and it gives gradient boosting framework to R, Python, Java, C++ and Juli...a coding systems. The software was first written by Tianqi Chen, who has since teamed with Carlos Guestrin, in March, 2014, for the Distributed (Deep) Machine Learning Community, and after winning a few awards, it exploded in popularity and was expanded to include other coding languages. XGBoost is used frequently in machine learning competitions and often helps lead teams to victory. Read moreless

Overall Opinion: "Machine learning" has become somewhat of a buzzword in the past few years, causing many people to think of Skynet-style artificially intelligence becoming self-aware and turning us into organic batteries. Fear not: Machine learning is far more tame than that and has many practical applications, none of which involve enslaving the human race. Those who dabble in the field, and probably those who get paid to do so, have likely heard of XGBoost, which has become sort of a phenomenon for harnessing the power of machine learning. It certainly helps that the code is open source and free, which has caused it to spread like wildfire throughout the online community. XGBoost is a software library, which means it can be "installed" on machines which can then reference the software's functions in compact lines of code. More specifically, XGBoost is used for supervised learning problems, which is a fancy term that involves math and predictions, hence machine learning. The software is actively contributed to every day, has a lively community and is used quite often at events and competition.

Pros: Works on major desktop operating systems Windows, MacOS and Linux Since XGBoost is open source, the code is available online on GitHub Loads of documentation online thanks to an enthusiastic and active community of coders

Cons: Lacks support for a few coding languages No mobile device support

grex is using XGBoost every other week recently.
