ArcGIS Reviews
We have 1 review for ArcGIS. The average overall ratings is 4.0 / 5 stars.
Overall Opinion: ArcGIS has a very high functioning platform and is one of the top software programs available for GIS mapping services. The main feature is the ability to scale (comes at a cost) and additional users can take the maps on the go.
Pros: Self-Service Mapping: Users or anyone that has access to the program via administration's approval can tap directly into the bundle of maps that are already offered by the software. Maps are consistently being updated and they can be viewed from anywhere data or internet is available. Maps Available Now: The software bundle comes complete with everything that the user needs to complement their needs for using this software. The platform allows for a user to enter the dashboard and analyze data sets live on a map. Administrative Tools: Administrative tools allow for a manager or director to track and view data not only from the maps but also of the other users that have been given permission to use the platform.
Cons: Scalability: The ability to SCALE the software out in terms of multiple users is possible with ArcGIS. The issue as has been reviewed by many people is that it can become quite expensive compared to other alternative platforms. A similar software, Maptitude, has less expensive alternatives in comparison to the abilities to SCALE with ArcGIS. Limited Data Rows and Columns: ArcGIS has a limited number of data entries sets compared to other alternatives. While you can input plenty of data - the goal of the program is to get you to SCALE and this can begin to get quite expensive. A similar software, Surfer, has an unlimited number of data rows and columns. Surfer is also OpenSource. Customizable APIs: ArcGIS has many APIs, yet there are comparables that have much more advanced tools and integration capabilities. A similar program, QGIS, has a much wider array of APIs that are customizable. The APIs are automated artificial intelligence applications that analyze the data.
