Overall Opinion: Liner feels like a feature of a more powerful extension rather than an extension all its own. Many people have expressed their desire for Liner to get bought and integrated into a more popular read-later app, such as Pocket or Evernote. Despite that, Liner has its uses. Rather than saving a copy of a webpage to a proprietary platform, which is what the more popular read-later apps do, Liner lets you mark up the webpage itself, saving the highlight for you if you ever come back. The difference between Liner and apps like Pocket and Evernote is this: Liner is like taking a highlighter to your copy of a beloved book, whereas Pocket and Evernote are like scanning your favorite pages and pasting them in a scrapbook. Those of you looking for a read-later extension should look elsewhere. However, if you’re after a simple, easy way to keep track of your thoughts on the web, Liner is exactly what you’re looking for.

Pros: Simple and lightweight Beautifully designed Different colors to suit your mood The basic version is free Does not require you to use their platform to view your highlights, they appear right on the original page

Cons: Has frequent popups that disrupt user experience Buggy No option to disable on specific webpages Requires an account to work Direct support is only available for paying users The premium plan only offers additional colors and unlimited folders No Android app is available
