MobyGames Reviews
We have 2 reviews for MobyGames. The average overall ratings is 4.0 / 5 stars.
Overall Opinion: Excellent database, I'd only hope a chart system based on user and critic score, by system, by genres etc. to browse games. Once It would be set up, I'll raise my score to 5.

Overall Opinion: Technically speaking, MobyGames is only a placeholder name for this video game database project. The initial goal of the platform was to catalog every bit of useful or related information for every video game on every platform, while also keeping that information easily searchable. For example, if you were to click on the page for the game called 'Civilization', you would be greeted with a plethora of information related to the game. If you wanted to find other games by the same developer, you would simply have to click on the name of the designer, which is Sid Meier in this case, and the site will show you a complete list of all the games from that same developer. From there, you can find out more about those games and follow other links to find even more information. In this way, the site is almost exactly like Wikipedia. You can easily lose yourself in the tremendous database by simply browsing through content that you find interesting. The platform is huge and exceptionally flexible, and part of that is due to the way information on the site is collected. Users are encouraged to add any of their own personal knowledge about any game they enjoy, which makes it a lot like Wikipedia as well. Anyone can add anything to any game page. Beyond simply adding factual information related to each game, users are also encouraged to add their own personal reviews for each game. The more reviews a game can get, the more accurate the overall image produced by all the reviews will be. With more contributors adding to the system every day, this makes it an excellent resource for finding out about the quality of a game, even if you can't find information about that game anywhere else. MobyGames includes games from just about platform you can imagine. It includes games for the PC, Linux, and Mac computers. There are also libraries for consoles like the Dreamcast, N64, Playstation, and PS2. More and more consoles are available as well, like Xbox, Atari 2600, Vectrex, Intellivision, Neo Geo, Gamecube, and even TI 99 systems. Perhaps the main downside to this platform is that you won't find any actual video game content on the site. That means you can't play the games through the site, and you can't even demo the games. You also won't find any game patches or fixes for bugs. The database is purely informational. The site also lacks breaking news in the gaming world since it focuses on timeless content from all across gaming history.
Pros: Exceptionally Large Gaming Resource User Contributions
Cons: No Actual Games No Game Demos
