Overall Opinion: While OfficeTime certainly isn't the most complicated piece of software on the market, it is certainly one of the most usable. It trades in flash for practicality, and that investment keeps the software small and highly useful. The software basically works by keeping track of hours that you work that you need to bill your client, and it also keeps track of expenses that you incur in the process of running your self-owned business. As you complete tasks and projects, OfficeTime will calculate how much time you spent on each project so you can see how productive you were relative to the amount of payment you received for your effort. You can choose to have the figures rounded to whatever value you would like, or you can set the software to give you exact figures. OfficeTime can also be used for team projects within businesses with larger footprints. Since OfficeTime is so affordable and performs at such a high rate of excellence, it doesn't take long for the software to cover its own costs. Even if the software were twice as expensive, it would still be able to pay for itself. By incorporating automation features into your time monitoring practices, you can save time and perform more billable effort. In OfficeTime, tasks are broken down into line items, and each item has a dedicated record button. When you start working on that particular task, you press the play button associated with it to start the task timer. When you stop the timer after completing the task, you can see exactly how much time you spent on the task. This is a great way to find out where your workflow could be improved or streamlined. One interesting feature is that the software will prevent you from accidentally recording time against more than one task simultaneously. This features prevents you from double-charging a client for time spent on a task. Of course, you can override this feature if there is a reason you need to overlap your recordings. If you happen to have a freelance position that isn't based on an hourly rate, you can set a specific total price in the line item for that job. Fields can be changed at any point to make them more appropriate for the work you do. Any mistakes that you make as you go can be corrected easily, so don't be worried about misclassifying work or making some other mistake. By keeping your projects organized efficiently and cleanly, you can better manage your work.
