Overall Opinion: It's safe to say that the world's compendium of knowledge has been digitized. Practically every part of our lives occupies a space in the digital world, but how you choose to store and that brings with it some distinct advantages and disadvantages. No longer do you need to rely on locked safes and physical documents to record the important information you want access to, but finding a secure and easy method to transfer your data between devices is important. SHAREit offers one of the most promising methods around, providing a system that's distinct from common options like cloud storage, Bluetooth, or traditional Wi-Fi. SHAREit is powered by a process known as Wi-Fi direct. While that might sound similar to the wireless internet connection you use in your home or office, the differences are important. In practice, it more closely resembles Bluetooth or the peer to peer sharing you'd find in a bit torrenting service. The result is a file transfer system that resembles the speed and reliability of a standard network connection without the need for an access point. Instead of using a traditional, physical network, SHAREit creates an ad hoc network that lasts only as long as you need it. All your devices synced through SHAREit connect will be able to communicate with one another even if they aren't remotely plugged in to the same traditional network service, providing a higher level of connectivity than you would otherwise fine. The advantages here are distinct. SHAREit can provide you with much quicker connection times than you'll find with Bluetooth. With top speeds of 20 Mbp/s, it's 200 times faster than a typical BlueTooth connection. It also offers dual channel transfer. Essentially this allows you to create and connect to two ad hoc connections at the same time, so you can transfer multiple files at the same time. This is a great option when you're looking to move all the contents of your phone over to a backup drive or share a large amount of office documents with a co-worker. This also allows you to share your files to multiple devices at once, an option you won't find with Bluetooth. There are no limits on the size or the type of information you're transferring, so you won't need to worry about eating into your data plan, and you can even send full apps to friends, family, or colleagues. But SHAREit is about more than just file transfer. It serves as a virtual space for the important information in your life. You can think of it as a digital lock box. Your entire phone's information can be transferred to your remote device with a simple click, and you can even manipulate files on your computer to accomplish tasks like using your phone as a remote for your PowerPoint presentation. A dedicated Share Zone allows a community space where you and your friends or co-workers can upload shared documents for use by everyone in the group.
Pros: No limit on file size Runs significantly faster than Bluetooth Sharing across platforms from multiple manufacturers
Cons: Some platforms don't support all
