Overall Opinion: Winamp holds true to its reputation of being a great media player and stands above other comparable audio and video players. The main feature that helps Winamp to rise above the crowd is the ability to play file formats that other media players simply cannot.

Pros: Free Forever: Winamp is a free, downloadable software. The fact that it is free is a great factor in comparison to other media players. There are no limitations associated with the “free” nature of the software. No upsells. Varied file-management system: There is a feature-rich file sorting system that allows users to search and manage their media with variable ease. Full Functioning Graphic Equalizer: The Graphic Equalizer with presets is a feature of this software. The equalizer is “live” which means that you can automatically listen to the rendering and change in the sound as you move the sliders.

Cons: Musical Lag and Draw: Certain users have experienced lag in the rendering of the digital interface when playing various media files. A comparable software is MusicBee and no lag issues have been noted about with this product. UPnP plugin bugs: A UPnP plugin allows a media player to cast media to other devices like smart TVs. Many people have noted that these plugins associated with Winamp have bugs and sometimes do not work at all or crash the system. A similar program, SHOUTcast, is known for its simple casting and streaming capabilities that work seamlessly with smart devices. User-friendliness: The software can be a bit complicated in terms of the user-friendliness. A similar program is Windows Media Player that is much simpler to operate than Winamp. Windows Media Player does not even come close to the number of customizable features of Winamp, but it is nevertheless much simpler to operate.
