FoldingText

Desktop Software Tools
Description
FoldingText is a feature-rich text editor for Macs with a built-in markup language. It allows users to easily create lists, checklists, bold text, and headings. These are created with simple instructi...ons like using a dash (-) before a line of text to create a list item, or a pound (#) before a line of text to create a heading. Want to bold text? It’s simple. Enclose the text like so: **bold text here** Further, you can collapse headings so that the only text that’s displayed on the screen is the heading itself, minus any text that is under the heading. Hence the name “folding” text. FoldingText also includes some remarkable features that you won’t find in any simple text editor. That includes functions like “todo lists” and even timers. Overall Opinion: FoldingText is pretty cool. For those that are looking for a simple productivity tool to help them with simple tasks or organize their thoughts, FoldingText has a nice suite of functions and promises to include more in future builds. It’s a new program, but the developer seems enthusiastic about adding more features down the road. It’s remarkably intuitive to use and allows some fairly complex functionality without requiring any sort of a learning curve. For those interested in making a todo list, for instance, FoldingText provides a very simple markup to do that: My Shopping List.todo The timer function is perfect for those who are using FoldingText to cook or bake. Further, students can use it to organize or take notes in class and it will help them organize their thoughts. Writers may also find it useful for organize a short story, novel, or a chapter of a non-fiction book. Journalists will find it useful for organizing an article. FoldingText is a lightweight productivity software that is free to download and use. There’s no good reason not to try out FoldingText.

Pros: Simple to use Makes organizing your thoughts easier Fun to play with Easy to learn

Cons: FoldingText is still in development, so it’s only begun to scratch the surface of what it can do. It’s only available for Mac.
