Intel XDK Reviews
We have 1 review for Intel XDK. The average overall ratings is 4.0 / 5 stars.
Overall Opinion: Intel XDK is proof that you don't need to spend a lot of money to develop state-of-the-art web applications. In fact, you don't have to spend anything at all for the product. XDK is a full-featured development environment for creating, debugging and previewing web apps, with support for iOS, Android and Windows devices. It is a very professional tool that truly fulfils the often made promise of "write once and publish everywhere." What's more, it creates apps that have a native feel to them. The XDK is very easy to install and use, and best of all, it's completely free to use. Though this doesn't mean that it's open source, so you can't make changes to it. Which could be a problem in the future, as Intel is no longer developing or updating the product, and it suggests that users should migrate to either System Studio or Arduino Create. Though they further say that the product will still receive support through the XDK community. Also keep in mind that the application can be a bit buggy and is prone to crashing. Some users have additionally reported that apps created with XDK tend to not have the fastest frame-per-second (FPS) rates.
Pros: Completely free to use Makes developing and debugging cross-platform web apps easy and fast Creates apps that have a native feel to them
Cons: No longer actively being developed or updated Slow graphics under some conditions Application prone to crashing
