Kibana Reviews

by grex about Kibana on March 29, 2018:
Kibana is a critical component of the software developed by Elastic, a tool that helps you take large amounts of compiled data, compile them into more easily digestible visualizations, and use that information to make your business run more efficiently. Prospective users should note that Kibana isn't designed to operate in a vacuum. It's an aspect of the Elastic Stack, a suite of software that facilitates the process of gathering, expanding, and analyzing huge amounts of data.

If you have any experience working with the Elastic stack or with other forms of data gathering software, you probably understand that raw information in high volume can only get you so far. Understanding the impact of how this information effects your business is critical, and Kibana's main goal is to help you make sense of the information gathered by Elasticsearch. While the other components of the Elastic framework may be useful on a case-by-case basis, Kibana and Elasticsearch work together in an incredibly effective manner. Elasticsearch tracks a wide variety of metrics regarding your unique visitors, including their place of origin, times of visit, and preferred operating system.

What's particularly special about Kibana is that it's built around the premise that users might not always know exactly what they're looking for. With this truism in mind, Elastic has built this software on the bedrock of a query system. Ask Kibana a question, and it will draw from machine learning to help you find the right solution. Using this sort of methodology, you can piggyback one query after another until you sharpen the results down to your ideal answer. Users are also in complete control of how they choose to view their information. All the fundamental varieties of charts and graphs come standard with the core package. You can map your data to sunbursts, pie charts, histograms, line graphs, and a number of other visualizations. The ability to trace your user information on geographical maps is a great way to recognize where your business is coming from and adjust your models to match these demands by scaling your sales, customer service, or QA teams to the unique needs of your clients.

If you're looking to scale your information analysis to a more macro level, you'll find the tools to suit your situation. Relationship graphs provide you with a nuanced understanding of how your leads and customers clump together using various metrics, while the machine learning functions let you more easily identify outliers, so you can determine which data is less relevant to your particular set.

Kibana is developed for the demands of larger businesses, and that's why it's designed to put collaboration first. Sharing visualizations to your superiors or teams is a simple affair. You can create and embed dashboards then upload them via a simple link, or you can transfer the data visualizations to PDF or CSV formats.
