Overall Opinion: I tried Pluto a couple of years ago. I like it! It was almost as good as Sling, but free! I stop watching it due to the constant freezing up of channels. Well, I just recently decided to go back to it. Yes, many of the channels have commercials, but so does cable and antenna tv. Pluto now has so many new channels. My favorites are Chiller, Conspiracy and Travel. They are as close as I can get to same cable channel, but they are FREE! Now, I still have the issue of channels freezing up. I hope this will someday be fixed. Sling has the same buffering issues. I’m just saying...
Overall Opinion: This app is constantly disconnecting and blaming my network. I have a 100mb network and do not experience these issues with other apps.
Overall Opinion: Many people today are deciding to cut ties with cable and satellite television providers. Pluto.tv offers individuals a chance to cut the cord without sacrificing access to entertaining content. The downside, of course, is that there aren't many familiar television programs available. Not yet, at least. This may be changing, however, with Hulu getting on board. The two companies have merged to provide more content. Pluto.tv works from any web browser. The app can also be used with Android and iOS devices, and it will even work with Amazon Fire TV. When a user logs in, they are offered an interface that resembles the menu offered by a satellite television provider. There is a list of channels and programs. Some content is offered on demand. Other content can be viewed at a certain time. Programs can also be saved and watched at the user's leisure. Pluto.tv essentially curates videos from sources like YouTube and Vimeo. They assemble these curated videos and group them by category to create channels. There are channels for sports, music, and film genres. At least one channel is devoted to cat videos. The available content is vast and most users will find something that they enjoy. What's missing is access to older television series that can be watched with services like Netflix. Hulu, a popular streaming service, has now partnered with Pluto.tv to offer access to some of its licensed programs. Users can now view older television programs like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and other series that are licensed by Hulu. It doesn't quite bring Pluto.tv into the realm of Netflix, but it is a step in the right direction. Most of the complaints about the service center around the platform's interface. The Hulu channels, for example, are basically just playlists. Other channels offer programming at specific times. This disparity can make it hard to search for and find programs. There is a lack of cohesion that can contribute to some user frustration. Pluto.tv is a free service, though, so it is hard to complain.
Pros: Free streaming of Internet videos Available for multiple platforms Content is grouped by category
Cons: Searching programs can be difficult Differences in channel function can be frustrating
